TIACA board members will host a series of executive working sessions to discuss innovation and challenges to improve cross-discipline collaboration at TIACA’s Executive Summit (ES).

The Summit takes place from 19-21 November 2019, and is hosted by Budapest Airport (BUD).

Day one of the event will feature Turhan Ozen, Turkish Airlines; Pascal Belanger, Winnipeg Airports Authority; Dr. Khalfan Al Shuelili, Oman Aviation Services; Neel Jones Shah, Flexport; and Denis Choumert, European Shippers Council; who will lead the discussion from their area of specialization in the air cargo supply chain.

“It is important for individual members who are active in the same area to innovate the way they collaborate, to discuss and solve industry specific topics – that’s why we organise these specialised sessions,” said Vladimir Zubkov, TIACA secretary general.

“At the same time, we know that the logistics industry as a whole is siloed, and air cargo is no exception.”

“Many TIACA members, who are only active in one part of the logistical chain, are not always aware of the issues faced by other stakeholders, so the second day of the ES will feature reports from the working sessions which will bring the different players together to explore new solutions and opportunities.”

Airlines, airports, cargo handling, freight forwarders, and shippers will be the focus of the working sessions, and session moderators will present their findings to the ES audience.

“We are organising these discussions to give members the opportunity to work in subgroups but also, as an organization, to better understand the needs and requirements of these subgroups,” added Zubkov.

“Today, more than ever, problems and challenges need to be tackled cross-company and industry-wide, and that is why on the second day of the conference, we will feed the conclusions of all five roundtables into the Summit, and the Board chairman, Steven Polmans, will make a summary which will help create future TIACA strategy.”

Hundreds of aviation experts will take part in the ES which will feature sessions and workshops that will keep attendees up to date with all the latest industry developments including e-commerce, drone technology, and global economic issues.

The ES will also host TIACA’s Sustainability Award presentations, where finalists will showcase their entries to judges.

The winner of the award will receive US$15,000 to go to a project or initiative that addresses issues relating to sustainability in air freight. Two runners up will also receive US$3,500 in prize money.

A highlight of the ES will be the Hall of Fame Awards ceremony, which honors one outstanding individual who has made significant contributions to shaping and developing the air cargo industry.

On the final day of the Executive Summit, attendees will participate in a tour and opening ceremony of BUD Cargo City, Budapest Airport’s dedicated freight terminal.
