The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) has officially appointed Turgut Erkeskin as its new president.
Erkeskin, boasting over 35 years of experience as president and chief executive of Istanbul-based Genel Transport, previously served as the senior vice president of FIATA.
Erkeskin, a well-respected figure in the industry, held the position of president for the Turkish NGO International Transportation and Logistics Service Providers Association (UTİKAD) for over a decade until November 2021.
His election to the presidency occurred during the 2023 FIATA Electoral General Meeting, coinciding with the 2023 FIATA World Congress. The event marked a pivotal moment as Erkeskin succeeded Ivan Petrov, the outgoing president, and managing director of Trans Express in Bulgaria.
The appointment of Turgut Erkeskin is expected to bring a wealth of experience and leadership to FIATA, further strengthening the organization’s role in the international freight forwarding community.
