Excellence Hub combines accredited learning, AI-powered training and executive education to strengthen operational excellence, safety and compliance across the global cargo ecosystem

Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, has launched the Etihad Cargo Excellence Hub, describing it as the air cargo industry’s first airline-led logistics training academy. The new digital learning platform has been developed to enhance operational excellence, safety, compliance and professional development across the carrier’s worldwide network of employees, partners, customers and industry stakeholders. The initiative forms part of Etihad Cargo’s broader strategy to standardise operational practices and strengthen service quality across its global logistics ecosystem.

The launch marks a significant investment in workforce capability development at a time when the global air cargo industry is facing increasing regulatory complexity, rapid digital transformation and growing customer expectations. By combining accredited education with industry-specific operational training, Etihad Cargo aims to create a common knowledge framework that supports consistent service delivery throughout its international network.

Creating a unified global standard

According to Etihad Cargo, the Excellence Hub has been established to ensure uniform operational, safety and compliance standards across its extensive partner network.

Through structured and standardised knowledge deployment, the platform is designed to improve operational alignment, strengthen risk management and safeguard service quality across every stage of the cargo journey. By ensuring that employees, general sales and service agents, ground handling partners and customers operate under the same standards, the airline seeks to reinforce the reliability and consistency that underpin its global cargo operations.

The academy serves a broad audience that includes Etihad Cargo representatives, logistics partners, customers, air cargo professionals and academic institutions, reflecting the airline’s ambition to create a collaborative learning community for the wider industry.

Comprehensive curriculum with accredited certifications

The Excellence Hub offers an extensive curriculum covering operational procedures, product knowledge, safety management, regulatory compliance and customer engagement.

Participants can access a structured learning pathway comprising:

  • Foundation training courses
  • Industry-focused podcasts
  • Interactive masterclasses
  • Executive education programmes, including a Mini MBA
  • Industry-certified programmes delivered in partnership with accredited educational institutions

Upon successful completion of each learning pathway, participants receive accredited certifications recognising their professional achievements.

To encourage continuous participation, the platform incorporates gamification features, including points-based leaderboards, achievement badges and LinkedIn-ready digital credentials that enable learners to showcase their accomplishments within the professional community.

AI-powered learning enhances professional development

A distinguishing feature of the Excellence Hub is its integration of artificial intelligence to personalise the learning experience.

The platform provides AI-enabled feedback, real-time performance analytics and customised learning recommendations, allowing users to monitor their progress while focusing on areas requiring further development.

Designed using a mobile-first approach, the digital academy enables users to access learning resources anytime and from anywhere, ensuring flexibility for professionals working across multiple time zones and operational environments.

Etihad Cargo has also extended complimentary access to university students, allowing aspiring logistics professionals to engage with industry content early in their careers while interacting with academic institutions and experienced practitioners within a global learning community.

Building knowledge beyond technical operations

Explaining the vision behind the initiative, Lubna Al Laham, Senior Manager Customer Experience at Etihad Cargo, said the Excellence Hub has been created to establish a single operational standard across the airline’s worldwide network while extending knowledge sharing beyond internal stakeholders. “Today, we introduce the Etihad Cargo Excellence Hub. We have launched the Excellence Hub to ensure that we have one global standard for all our partners across our network, and we are growing it to cover not only our partners but also to share knowledge with our customers.”

Al Laham explained that the academy is built around three core pillars.

“The Excellence Hub covers three key pillars. One is learning more about Etihad Cargo products and services. The second is learning more about industry standards. The third is developing soft skills, such as negotiation and communication, that help boost business performance.”

She added that the platform has been designed as an interactive community rather than simply an online training portal.

“We have a range of courses, podcasts and the opportunity to speak with different experts. People who join the Excellence Hub are also able to register for a Mini MBA programme, earn credits and badges, and access a reward shop to accelerate their learning experience.”

Strengthening capability across the global cargo ecosystem

Highlighting the strategic significance of the initiative, Stanislas Brun, Chief Cargo Officer at Etihad Airways, described the academy as an important milestone for the air cargo industry.

“As the first logistics training academy established by an airline, it represents a significant step forward in how we approach knowledge, capability and service quality across our global network.”

He added that consolidating operational expertise, industry knowledge and accredited education within a single platform would help raise professional capability across the wider air cargo sector.

“By bringing together operational expertise, industry knowledge and accredited learning pathways in one platform, the Excellence Hub will help raise capability standards across the global air cargo ecosystem.”

Investing in people and the future workforce

Dr. Nadia Al Bastaki, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Etihad Airways, said the initiative reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to workforce development.

“Etihad is committed to investing in people, and the Etihad Cargo Excellence Hub is a testament to this commitment.”

She noted that providing accessible learning opportunities and encouraging knowledge sharing would strengthen professional capabilities across the industry.

“By providing accessible learning opportunities and a platform for knowledge sharing, Etihad Cargo aims to enhance the capabilities of those entering and advancing within the air cargo industry. The Excellence Hub will facilitate professional development and enhance operational excellence, customer service and efficiency.”

Supporting the next phase of air cargo growth

As air cargo operations become increasingly digital, data-driven and highly regulated, investment in workforce capability is emerging as a critical competitive differentiator. Industry participants are facing growing demands for specialised handling, regulatory compliance, digital documentation and customer-centric logistics solutions, making continuous professional development essential.

Through the Excellence Hub, Etihad Cargo is seeking to build a globally connected learning ecosystem that supports not only its own operational standards but also the broader development of the international air cargo community. By combining accredited education, AI-enabled learning, executive programmes and collaborative knowledge sharing, the initiative represents a significant step towards strengthening operational consistency, enhancing safety and supporting the long-term sustainability of the global air cargo industry.
