Saudia Cargo has expanded its international freighter network with the launch of a new service linking Dhaka, Bangladesh, with Frankfurt, Germany.
The twice-weekly service, which commenced on 14 August 2026, establishes a direct cargo connection between two important manufacturing and logistics markets and adds further capacity between South Asia and Europe.
The new route strengthens Saudia Cargo’s access to Bangladesh, one of Asia’s major export manufacturing centres, while connecting shippers and freight forwarders in the market with Frankfurt, a key European logistics gateway.
New link between Bangladesh and Europe
Bangladesh is a major global manufacturing and export centre, particularly for ready-made garments and textiles. The country also handles growing volumes of pharmaceuticals, perishables, industrial products and e-commerce shipments.
The Dhaka–Frankfurt service provides additional dedicated freighter capacity for these commodities, offering shippers a direct air freight option between Bangladesh and Germany.
For European customers, the new connection also provides access to Bangladesh’s manufacturing base and supports the movement of time-sensitive cargo into and out of one of South Asia’s most important export markets.
The twice-weekly schedule is intended to provide more consistent capacity for freight forwarders and other commercial customers as trade between Asia and Europe continues to evolve.
Saudia Cargo said the new route forms part of its wider strategy to expand its international network and provide customers with faster and more reliable cargo connections.
The carrier’s official website currently describes its network as reaching more than 90 destinations worldwide and highlights dedicated freighter, belly cargo and charter capabilities.
Supporting growing cargo demand
The Dhaka–Frankfurt operation comes as air cargo demand continues to be shaped by the growth of e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, high-value manufacturing and other time-critical supply chains.
Bangladesh’s dominant garment industry is particularly dependent on reliable international logistics. While ocean freight remains the primary mode for large volumes of exports, air cargo provides an important option for urgent orders and shipments requiring shorter transit times.
The new freighter service therefore creates additional flexibility for exporters and freight forwarders seeking to balance transit time, capacity and supply-chain reliability.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, provides access to Germany’s industrial base and onward European markets, making the route relevant to both manufacturing exports from Bangladesh and imports into the country.
Fleet investment supports network expansion
Saudia Cargo is continuing to invest in its freighter operation as it expands its international network.
The company has announced plans to strengthen its dedicated cargo fleet, including an agreement covering four Boeing 777-200 freighters. The aircraft will provide additional long-haul capacity as the carrier develops its network and responds to growing demand.
Saudia Cargo’s current digital platform also provides electronic booking, shipment tracking and charter-request services, reflecting the carrier’s focus on expanding both physical capacity and digital cargo services.
The company has also been investing in specialised cargo solutions, including pharmaceutical logistics and temperature-sensitive shipments. Its pharmaceutical support programme with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority provides dedicated support for pharmaceutical and medical-product movements.
Strengthening the Asia–Europe corridor
The addition of Dhaka to Frankfurt gives Saudia Cargo another connection between Asia and Europe while complementing its existing network through Saudi Arabia.
For the carrier, the route offers an opportunity to capture cargo flows generated by Bangladesh’s export economy while providing European customers with additional access to the South Asian market.
The launch also reflects the broader shift among cargo carriers towards developing direct freighter links on trade lanes where manufacturing growth and supply-chain requirements are generating demand for reliable air freight capacity.
As Saudia Cargo continues to expand its freighter fleet and international network, the Dhaka–Frankfurt service adds another strategic link between South Asia and Europe and strengthens the carrier’s position in the global air freight market.
