LATAM Cargo has become the first airline in the Americas to integrate the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) DG AutoCheck solution directly into its core cargo management system, Croamis, as the carrier moves to automate dangerous goods acceptance and strengthen compliance and operational efficiency.
The integration enables real-time validation of dangerous goods information and provides early notification of discrepancies, allowing issues to be addressed before they result in cargo acceptance delays. LATAM Cargo said the approach is designed to shorten acceptance times while improving safety and visibility across the dangerous goods process.
Automated Dangerous Goods Validation
DG AutoCheck automatically cross-references the Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods (DGD) against the applicable requirements of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
The system also provides cargo acceptance personnel with an interactive checklist to support the physical inspection of packaging, markings, labels and classification. IATA describes DG AutoCheck as an automated compliance solution designed to reduce manual cross-referencing, improve accuracy and support safer dangerous goods acceptance.
By connecting the tool directly with Croamis, validated information can move through LATAM Cargo’s operational processes without requiring the same level of manual intervention. The integration also supports digital traceability and provides documentation that can assist with regulatory compliance and audits.

Streamlining The NOTOC Process
The integration extends beyond the initial acceptance check by allowing validated dangerous goods information to support the automated creation of the Notification to Captain (NOTOC).
IATA has previously highlighted the ability of DG AutoCheck and its Connect API to transfer validated dangerous goods data into other systems in the air cargo chain, including NOTOC processes. The association says this can reduce manual processing and accelerate the transfer of critical safety information to flight crews.
For LATAM Cargo, the integration is intended to reduce administrative workload at acceptance counters while allowing staff to focus more closely on customer and operational requirements, particularly when shipments require additional attention.
Collaboration With IATA And Wipro
The implementation was developed through collaboration between LATAM Cargo, IATA and technology provider Wipro, with DG AutoCheck integrated into Croamis, the airline’s core cargo platform.
Frederic Leger, IATA’s Senior Vice President of Products and Services, described the integration as an important step in the digitalisation of dangerous goods handling. He said the connection between DG AutoCheck and Croamis enables validated compliance information to flow into operational systems while automating key processes.
Wipro has also confirmed the implementation, stating that LATAM Cargo has automated real-time dangerous goods validation through Croamis.
Phased Network Rollout
The implementation was initially launched at LATAM Cargo’s Miami station, with the carrier planning a phased rollout to additional locations across its network.
LATAM Cargo said the gradual deployment is intended to account for differences in operating environments and local practices while maintaining consistent processes as more stations are brought online.
The move comes as airlines and other air cargo stakeholders increasingly use digital systems to strengthen dangerous goods compliance. IATA says DG AutoCheck can help teams process shipments more efficiently, identify compliance issues, support physical inspections and reduce manual errors during acceptance.
For LATAM Cargo, integrating the solution into its core operational platform represents a move towards a more connected dangerous goods workflow, linking documentation, acceptance, compliance verification and downstream safety information within a digital process.
