SF Airlines has added a new Shanghai–Singapore freighter service, strengthening its network through Changi Airport as the Chinese express carrier develops Singapore as its first overseas hub.
The new service is operated with a Boeing 767 freighter and is intended to strengthen cargo connectivity between Singapore and China, while supporting growing flows of high-value and technology-related shipments between the two markets.
The addition comes several months after SF Airlines selected Singapore Changi Airport as its first overseas hub, as the carrier looks to expand its reach across Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania.

Singapore positioned as regional hub
SF Airlines and Changi Airport Group (CAG) previously agreed to cooperate on the development of Singapore as a regional hub for SF’s operations.
Under the agreement, Singapore is intended to serve cargo flows to and from Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania, taking advantage of the country’s location and Changi’s established role as an international cargo consolidation and transhipment centre.
The partnership is focused on supporting growing intra-Asia trade and cargo flows between Asia-Pacific markets and destinations elsewhere in the world.
The latest Shanghai service represents a further step in that development, providing an additional direct link between one of China’s principal air cargo markets and Singapore.
Boeing 767 adds dedicated freighter capacity
The Shanghai–Singapore service is operated using a Boeing 767 freighter, adding dedicated main-deck cargo capacity to SF Airlines’ regional network.
SF Airlines currently operates a fleet of more than 90 freighters across Boeing 747, 767, 757 and 737 types, according to its official corporate information. Its Boeing 767 fleet comprises 25 aircraft, with the type offering a maximum payload of 55.5 tonnes with ULDs and a maximum range with full payload of approximately 2,970 nautical miles.
The carrier’s official network lists Shanghai Pudong International Airport as an air-freight station, confirming the airport’s role within SF Airlines’ operating network.
Changi strengthens China–Southeast Asia connectivity
Changi Airport Group said the new service would strengthen air trade links between Singapore and China and support wider cargo connectivity across Asia-Pacific.
The airport authority described the inaugural Boeing 767 Shanghai–Singapore freighter operation as an important milestone in SF Airlines’ plans to develop Singapore as its first overseas hub.
The carrier’s expansion comes as air cargo operators seek to build greater connectivity around the region’s manufacturing, e-commerce and technology supply chains.
For Singapore, the SF Airlines operation adds another dedicated freighter connection with China while supporting Changi’s role as a regional cargo hub.
Building an overseas hub network
SF Airlines’ expansion into Singapore represents a change from its predominantly China-centred hub structure.
The carrier says its principal aviation hubs are currently located in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Beijing and Ezhou, from which it operates cargo services across China and international markets.
Its international network already includes destinations across Asia and the Middle East. The airline’s published schedule, for example, includes freighter services linking Shenzhen with Singapore, Chennai, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Manila, Tokyo and other regional destinations.
The Singapore hub initiative is intended to extend this network model by positioning Changi as a consolidation point for shipments moving between China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania.
Supporting high-value and technology cargo
Changi Airport said the partnership with SF Airlines is expected to support high-value cargo flows and the changing requirements of regional and international supply chains.
The Shanghai connection is particularly relevant to trade between two major Asian commercial centres, with China serving as Singapore’s largest air-cargo market and technology-related products forming an important component of regional trade.
A dedicated freighter service provides additional capacity and scheduling flexibility compared with relying solely on passenger-aircraft belly space.
For SF Airlines, the operation also creates another international route through which cargo can be consolidated and transferred at Singapore for onward movement across the Asia-Pacific region.
Southeast Asia remains a key expansion market
SF Airlines’ move into Singapore reflects a broader expansion of its international network as Asian supply chains become increasingly interconnected.
The carrier’s current schedule shows a growing number of dedicated freighter services connecting Chinese gateways with destinations across South and Southeast Asia.
The Singapore hub strategy provides the carrier with a platform from which to build additional connections while giving customers access to Changi’s established cargo infrastructure.
The development also strengthens the potential role of Singapore in SF’s international network, particularly for cargo requiring consolidation or onward distribution between Asian markets.

The Shanghai–Singapore service is the latest development in SF Airlines’ efforts to expand beyond its Chinese domestic network.
