Ismail Durmaz
Air cargo think tank Aerion has announced the appointment of Ismail Durmaz as Partner, Corporate & Business Affairs, as the company continues to expand its leadership team following its launch earlier this year.
Durmaz, who also serves as Chairman of the Global GSA Group, will work closely with Adrien Thominet, Aerion’s Chairman and Founder, to drive strategic alignment between Aerion’s vision, operational execution, and partnerships across the air cargo ecosystem.
“Aerion is not just another consultancy—it’s a co-investing, accountable partner that unifies service and technology expertise from across its sister companies,” the company said. “Ismail will play a key role in reinforcing our holistic value proposition to airlines.”
Launched earlier in 2025, Aerion is part of a broader ecosystem that includes ECS Group, Global GSA Group, and CargoTech—the latter comprising five technology-focused companies offering a range of digital solutions. Aerion was established to offer airline customers a fully integrated view of the group’s combined capabilities in commercial services, technology, and strategic consulting.
Unlike traditional advisory firms, Aerion takes full accountability for the services delivered across the network of affiliated companies, and actively co-invests in customer-driven initiatives. The goal is to enable smarter cross-selling and offer tailored, agile solutions that respond to the evolving needs of airline partners.
“I am honoured to join Aerion at such a pivotal moment for the industry,” said Durmaz. “This project brings real value to airlines: access to shared expertise, cutting-edge digital tools, and a holistic vision—all delivered with unmatched agility. It’s a new way to imagine service and performance in air cargo.”
Durmaz’s appointment follows his recent transition from CEO to Chairman of the Global GSA Group. Aytekin Saray has since taken over as the group’s new Chief Executive.
Aerion also confirmed that it will unveil the members of its advisory board in the coming weeks, further strengthening its position as a forward-thinking force in the global air cargo sector.
