Çelebi Aviation has unveiled CompliAI, a new AI-powered compliance and safety monitoring system designed to identify apron risks in real time and transform ground handling safety standards across its global network.
The technology—developed jointly by Çelebi’s Global Quality and IT teams—combines artificial intelligence with GPS-based data analytics to provide continuous surveillance of ground operations. A pilot deployment at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport delivered promising results, including sub-60-second incident detection and a marked rise in near-miss reporting. The company is now preparing to roll out the system worldwide.
Real-time safety intelligence for apron operations
CompliAI uses an integrated network of cameras, sensors, and data feeds to automatically detect safety deviations such as unsafe equipment proximity, non-compliant vehicle movements, and improper marshalling procedures. The system instantly alerts operations teams when it identifies a potential risk, enabling rapid corrective action.
During the Budapest trial, the AI tool consistently flagged incidents in less than a minute, allowing supervisors to intervene sooner and strengthening the station’s safety oversight. Çelebi reports that the technology also increased near-miss reporting, supporting a more proactive and data-driven safety culture.
Global expansion and next development phase
Following the successful pilot, Çelebi Aviation is preparing to deploy CompliAI across its international stations. The next phase of development will broaden the platform’s analytics capabilities to include service-level agreement (SLA) monitoring, additional operational metrics, and a wider range of equipment categories. Implementation will be supported by a centralised rules library and dedicated on-site rollout teams.
“This project underscores Çelebi Aviation’s commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence,” said Dave Dorner, Group CEO of Çelebi Aviation. “By analysing real-time data, we’re able to identify risks more quickly, implement preventive measures more effectively, and protect our employees and customers like never before. This is not just an investment in technology—it is an investment in the future of our industry.”
With CompliAI, Çelebi Aviation positions itself at the forefront of digital transformation in ground handling, setting a new benchmark for how AI can elevate safety, efficiency, and sustainability across airport operations.
