Sydney, Feb. 11, 2025 – Sydney’s Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) has announced a significant partnership with dnata Catering & Retail, Australia’s leading inflight catering provider, to deliver high-quality catering services. dnata is investing $17 million to build a state-of-the-art catering facility at WSI’s Cargo Precinct, set to produce up to three million meals annually, featuring local Australian produce.
Mark Stubbings, dnata’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to Australian aviation. “Our advanced facility will play a crucial role in WSI’s growth, helping it establish itself as a leading international hub,” he said.
The facility, spanning 3,200 square meters, will be built with energy-efficient technology and environmentally conscious design, including a recycled water system and waste treatment plant. With the option for future expansion, the facility can grow to 6,400 square meters as demand increases.
The project is expected to create over 200 new jobs in the region over the next decade, with recruitment starting in 2026. WSI CEO Simon Hickey noted that dnata’s investment underscores the airport’s rapid progress, with operations expected to begin in late 2026.
This collaboration strengthens WSI’s position as a hub for both airlines and local food producers, offering increased efficiency and showcasing Australia’s vibrant food scene.
