Strong Commercial Momentum

Commercial aviation remained a major focus throughout the exhibition, with leading manufacturers announcing significant aircraft and engine orders.

In total, the airshow recorded 353 firm commercial aircraft orders alongside 904 firm engine orders, underlining sustained demand for new-generation aircraft and propulsion technologies.

Industry leaders including Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, CFM International’s LEAP engine programme, and Pratt & Whitney unveiled new agreements and product developments as airlines continue investing in fleet modernisation and more fuel-efficient aircraft.

The strong order activity reinforced aviation’s long-term growth outlook while highlighting continued investment in sustainable and technologically advanced fleets.

Innovation Shapes the Future of Flight

Beyond commercial announcements, Farnborough 2026 showcased emerging technologies that are expected to redefine the future of aviation.

One of the event’s defining moments came when Vertical Aerospace completed the first public electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flight demonstration at the airshow.

The aircraft successfully transitioned between helicopter and fixed-wing flight modes before returning to vertical flight, marking a significant milestone for advanced air mobility and urban aviation.

The flying programme also featured the debut appearance of the Fursan Al Emarat – UAE National Air Display Team, whose seven-aircraft aerobatic display added another international highlight to the event.

Platform for Global Collaboration

The airshow once again served as a meeting point for governments, aerospace manufacturers, defence organisations, investors, research institutions and technology start-ups.

Alongside commercial activity, industry leaders explored topics including defence capability, artificial intelligence, sustainability, advanced manufacturing and future mobility through a comprehensive conference programme.

Senior representatives from the UK Government also attended the event, reinforcing Farnborough’s role as a strategic forum for collaboration between industry and policymakers.

The presence of government officials, defence contractors and technology innovators reflected the increasingly interconnected nature of the aerospace, defence and space sectors.

Investing in the Next Generation

Future workforce development remained a central theme throughout the week through the airshow’s Pioneers of Tomorrow initiative.

The programme, which sold out ahead of the event, welcomed thousands of students, educators and aspiring aerospace professionals for careers workshops, live demonstrations and networking opportunities with leading employers.

Designed to promote careers in aerospace, engineering and science, the initiative aims to address long-term industry skills requirements while encouraging greater participation in STEM education.

Driving Aerospace Growth

Reflecting on the success of the event, Gareth Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of Farnborough International, said the airshow demonstrated the industry’s ability to innovate through collaboration.

“Farnborough International Airshow 2026 has once again shown what can be achieved when the global aerospace community comes together with purpose. Across the week, we have seen business getting done, partnerships strengthened, and ideas turned into action, all against the backdrop of an industry focused on innovation and long-term progress.”

He added that the event continues to provide a platform for commercial success, international cooperation and talent development.

“From the organisations defining aerospace today to the pioneers building its future, the energy across the show has been exceptional. We are proud to provide a platform that drives commercial success, supports international collaboration and inspires the next generation.”

With record attendance, billions of dollars in commercial agreements and landmark technology demonstrations, Farnborough International Airshow 2026 highlighted the resilience and continued evolution of the global aerospace industry while setting the stage for further innovation ahead of the next edition in July 2028.
