Global air cargo leaders will convene in Frankfurt this September for the 11th Air Cargo Conference, where industry stakeholders will discuss the evolving dynamics of international air freight, the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI), supply chain resilience, digital transformation and emerging global trade opportunities.

Organised by Air Cargo Community Frankfurt, the two-day conference will be held on 2–3 September 2026 at the Congress Center Messe Frankfurt, bringing together airline executives, airport operators, freight forwarders, logistics providers, technology companies and policymakers to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of air cargo. The event has been confirmed by Air Cargo Community Frankfurt and industry reports.

Industry Focus Shifts Towards AI-Driven Cargo Growth

The conference comes at a time when the air cargo industry is witnessing a significant transformation, with AI-related semiconductor shipments emerging as one of the strongest drivers of global air freight demand.

Recent industry analyses by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), Dimerco Express Group and Xenetaindicate that high-value AI hardware and semiconductor shipments are increasingly replacing e-commerce as the primary consumer of air cargo capacity on several Asian trade lanes. Load factors on Asia–US routes have approached 90%, while demand for time-sensitive technology products continues to support freight volumes despite broader economic uncertainty.

Industry experts believe these market shifts will form an important backdrop to discussions in Frankfurt, particularly around network planning, capacity management and digitalisation.

Global Cooperation Takes Centre Stage

This year’s conference places international collaboration at the heart of its agenda.

Felix Toepsch, Executive Director of Air Cargo Community Frankfurt, said the event aims to strengthen dialogue among global stakeholders.

“This year’s conference focuses on international cooperation in the air cargo industry. Frankfurt is Europe’s leading cargo hub, which is precisely why we want to use the Air Cargo Conference to bring together international perspectives and foster dialogue. The challenges facing the air cargo industry can only be solved through close cooperation. To that end, we’re bringing together leading figures from the industry in one place.”

Senior Airline Executives to Discuss Market Resilience

One of the key sessions will feature a high-level executive panel comprising leaders from:

  • Lufthansa Cargo
  • Cathay Cargo
  • Ethiopian Airlines
  • LATAM Cargo
  • Delta Air Lines

The discussion will examine global air cargo competitiveness, operational resilience, geopolitical risks, fleet capacity, market diversification and long-term growth strategies.

India–Frankfurt Partnerships Under the Spotlight

Reflecting India’s growing importance in global supply chains, the conference will also explore expanding airport and economic partnerships between India and Frankfurt.

The session will examine how stronger cooperation can enhance cargo connectivity, facilitate trade, improve logistics infrastructure and support future investment between Europe and one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

AI, Robotics and Digital Transformation

Technology will feature prominently throughout the conference programme.

Industry experts will discuss the practical application of artificial intelligence, robotics and automation in warehouse operations, cargo handling, predictive analytics and operational planning.

These discussions are particularly relevant as AI-related cargo now represents one of the fastest-growing premium freight segments globally, driving demand for specialised logistics solutions and higher-value air freight services.

Security, Shippers and Supply Chain Innovation

Additional sessions will address:

  • changing shipper expectations,
  • secure handling of high-value cargo,
  • evolving regulatory requirements,
  • digital supply chains,
  • and collaboration across logistics networks.

Case studies will demonstrate how partnerships between airlines, airports, freight forwarders and technology providers are improving operational resilience in increasingly complex global supply chains.

Start-ups to Showcase Future Cargo Solutions

Innovation will also be a major focus through the Innovation Award, organised by Haus61 and Lufthansa Cargo AG.

The competition will provide logistics and air cargo start-ups with an opportunity to present emerging technologies designed to improve efficiency, visibility, sustainability and digital integration across the cargo ecosystem.

New Venue Reflects Conference Growth

Following the successful 10th anniversary edition held at Deutsche Bank Park, this year’s conference moves to the larger Congress Center Messe Frankfurt, offering expanded facilities for networking, exhibitions and technical sessions.

Frankfurt Reinforces Position as Europe’s Cargo Gateway

Air Cargo Community Frankfurt represents approximately 100 companies, institutions and industry associationsspanning the entire air cargo value chain. Through collaborative projects and specialist working groups, the organisation supports innovation and long-term development at Frankfurt Airport, Europe’s leading cargo hub.

As global air freight enters a new phase shaped by AI-driven demand, geopolitical uncertainty, digital transformation and evolving trade flows, the 11th Air Cargo Conference is expected to provide an important platform for industry leaders to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and chart the future direction of international cargo aviation.
