Liège Airport has strengthened its China–Europe air freight network with the launch of a new direct scheduled cargo service to Chongqing, China, operated by Suparna Airlines. The route marks the first-ever direct air cargo connection between Liège Airport and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, creating a vital new link between Western China and one of Europe’s leading cargo hubs.
The addition of Chongqing represents a strategic expansion of Liège Airport’s cargo portfolio, reinforcing its role as a key gateway in the China–Europe logistics corridor. Western China has emerged as a major centre for e-commerce, high-technology manufacturing and industrial production, and the new service is designed to support faster, more reliable cross-border trade flows between the region and European markets.
Chongqing is one of China’s most important industrial and logistics centres, playing a critical role in global supply chains. The new direct connection will facilitate the movement of e-commerce shipments, high-value technology products, automotive components and a wide range of industrial cargo, offering shippers an efficient and time-sensitive transport solution.
Torsten Wefers, Vice President Sales and Marketing at Liège Airport, said: “We are proud to launch our first direct scheduled connection with Chongqing. Chongqing is an important new addition to our network and further confirms Liège’s role as a trusted, efficient gateway between China and Europe.”
A representative of Chongqing Airport management added, “The launch of this direct scheduled service to Liège marks an important step in expanding Chongqing’s international cargo network. This new connection strengthens trade links with Europe and enhances Chongqing’s position as a key logistics hub in Western China.”
With the introduction of this scheduled service, Liège Airport continues to expand its Asian cargo footprint and deepen long-term partnerships with international cargo airlines. The development underscores the airport’s commitment to supporting the evolving demands of global logistics, e-commerce growth and cross-border trade between China and Europe.
