Luxaviation ONE has appointed Markus Schmidt as Vice President Cargo, strengthening its cargo charter and air freight operations as the dedicated charter brokerage division expands its international activities.
Schmidt brings more than 20 years of international air cargo experience to the role. He joins Luxaviation ONE from Chapman Freeborn Airchartering, where he most recently served as Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations Europe. His previous experience includes roles with Etihad Airways, Celebi Aviation Holding and Asiana Airlines, covering cargo charter, commercial operations, strategic account management, airline and supplier relationships, and business development. Chapman Freeborn had appointed Schmidt Vice President of Cargo Commercial Operations in 2025 as part of a restructuring of its European cargo operations.
In his new position, Schmidt will lead and further develop Luxaviation ONE’s existing cargo team while working with customers and partners to expand the company’s cargo activities internationally.

Patrick Hansen, CEO of Luxaviation Group, said Schmidt’s appointment represents the next stage in developing the company’s cargo capabilities and broadening the solutions available to customers.
Romain Alati, CEO of Luxaviation ONE, said the appointment strengthens the company’s air cargo team and supports its ambition to provide tailored air freight solutions through a network of partners.
Luxaviation ONE’s cargo operation provides full and part cargo charters as well as air freight solutions for individual shipments and specific cargo volumes. Its current cargo offering covers sectors including aerospace, automotive, energy, pharmaceuticals and medical shipments, precious metals and minerals, humanitarian aid, hazardous materials and other specialised cargo. The company says its cargo team works with trusted aircraft operators and partners to provide secure and efficient charter solutions.
The appointment follows Luxaviation ONE’s broader expansion of its cargo business. In August 2026, the company said it had established a dedicated Cargo Charter Department as part of its international growth strategy. At the time, Luxaviation ONE reported that its team had grown to 15 aviation specialists and outlined plans to expand its workforce further by the end of 2027.
Schmidt said the company’s cargo approach would begin with understanding the specific requirements of each shipment, whether a smaller consignment, part charter or larger charter operation, while strengthening relationships across its international network.
The appointment comes as Luxaviation ONE continues to develop its cargo charter capabilities and broaden its specialised air freight offering for customers with time-sensitive, complex and high-value transportation requirements.
