Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has refurbished its Pearl Lounge at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) as part of a global lounge transformation project.
Global aviation services provider Menzies Aviation has officially unveiled its newly refurbished flagship Pearl Lounge at Copenhagen Airport, marking another milestone in the company’s multi-year global premium lounge transformation programme. The upgraded facility, which opened to passengers on 1 May 2026, represents a €2.7 million investment and forms part of Menzies Aviation’s broader strategy to strengthen its premium hospitality footprint while delivering a more localised, sustainability-driven passenger experience across its global Pearl Lounge portfolio. Located in the departures terminal above Gate C after passport control, the redesigned Pearl Lounge spans 800 square metres and accommodates more than 180 guests, making it the largest facility within Menzies’ global Pearl network. The refurbishment follows a three-month redevelopment programme and builds on Menzies Aviation’s more than nine years of lounge operations at Copenhagen, further strengthening the company’s presence across the Nordic aviation market.
Nordic design meets global premium standards
Designed to reflect Scandinavian aesthetics and local cultural identity, the new lounge incorporates clean architectural lines, natural materials, soft lighting and open-plan layouts inspired by classic Danish design principles. Floor-to-ceiling runway-facing windows create a spacious, light-filled environment, while passengers have access to multiple dedicated zones tailored for both leisure and business travellers, including quiet relaxation areas, dining spaces, shower facilities, private workstations and a dedicated meeting room. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lounge, alongside upgraded food and beverage offerings featuring locally inspired hot and cold dishes, salad selections, vegan and gluten-free options, as well as regional wines and draft beers.
Sustainability embedded into hospitality strategy
The Copenhagen lounge also reflects Menzies Aviation’s broader “All In” sustainability strategy, with an emphasis on reducing operational waste, prioritising local suppliers and minimising transport-related emissions through regional sourcing. The refurbishment aligns with the company’s wider ESG agenda, which recently saw Menzies achieve its global target of 25 percent electric Ground Support Equipment (GSE) across its worldwide operations, supported by a US$200 million fleet modernisation programme.
Strategic expansion of the Pearl network
Speaking at the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on 30 April, attended by senior executives from both Menzies Aviation and Copenhagen Airport, Jo Harrison, Senior Vice President Pearl Lounge Transformation at Menzies Aviation, described Copenhagen as a strategically important location within the company’s European network. The event also featured Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer of Copenhagen Airport, alongside senior representatives from airport management and Menzies’ European leadership team. “The upgraded lounge sets a new benchmark for a true premium experience and is fully aligned with CPH’s strategy of delighting passengers across every touchpoint of their journey,” Krogsgaard said during the launch event.
Premium travel portfolio continues to grow
The Copenhagen opening reflects Menzies Aviation’s continued investment in its rapidly expanding Pearl Lounge network, which now spans 52 lounges across 18 countries, welcoming more than 2.5 million guests in 2025. With passenger expectations evolving and airports increasingly focusing on premium travel experiences, Menzies is positioning Pearl as a key growth platform alongside its core ground handling, cargo, fuelling and executive aviation businesses. As competition intensifies in the premium airport hospitality segment, the Copenhagen project demonstrates how aviation service providers are increasingly blending local design, sustainability and digital convenience to create differentiated passenger experiences while opening new ancillary revenue streams.
