Silk Way West Airlines proudly supports the German non-governmental organization (NGO) ’Wings of Help’, most recently by flying urgently-needed aid supplies into Nothern Iraq, a region where more than 23,000 children – among them, approximately 4,000 living below the age of three and 3,500 orphans – are awaiting assistance.
Silk Way West’s 747 full freighter departed on Saturday, June 23rd from Frankfurt Hahn Airport, having on board vital food and sanitation supplies.
“This project is truly dear to our hearts,” stated Wolfgang Meier, President and CEO, Silk Way West Airlines. “We have been supporting the ’Wings of Help’ organization for a very long time and have been proud to play a role in their mission. Wings Of Help is doing a tremendous job by providing aid supplies to the refugee camps of Hasan Sham and Dibaga and we are doing our utmost to support them, both with our know-how and our fleet of cargo aircrafts, indeed however we can.”
On June 26th, a Silkway Airlines Ilyushin 76 provided the ’feeder flight’ from Silk Way West‘s global hub of Baku to Erbil.
“Despite the fact that these feeders are quite routine for Silkway, the dedicated aid provided in cooperation with Wings of Help will always remain a particularly special and unique endeavor,” contiunued Wolfgang Meier.
Silk Way West Airlines‘ fleet consists of more than ten Boeing 747 full freighters, with at least two more aircrafts set to join the fleet in due course. The carrier hosts a global network of more than 45 destinations along the ancient Silk Road, with an enhanced network through Baku, connecting China, Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America.
