The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has officially launched the nomination period for two exciting new awards that will recognize the rising talent and influential leaders shaping the future of the air cargo industry. The new awards – the Inspirational Leadership Award and the Rising Star Award, will be presented at the 2025 TIACA Executive Summit in Hong Kong, taking place from June 23-25.
The Inspirational Leadership Award is designed to spotlight a professional who has made a significant impact on the industry over the past year. What sets this award apart is that it will be selected by a unique jury of young industry professionals under the age of 35. These jurors will determine the criteria, nomination process, and voting methodology, ensuring that the honoree is someone truly inspiring to the next generation of air cargo leaders.
The Rising Star Award, on the other hand, will recognize an individual under 35 who has excelled in their role or a specific project that has advanced the air cargo sector. Nominations for this award can come in various formats, whether a written submission, video, or product application, giving nominators the flexibility to best represent the candidate’s achievements. The TIACA Board will review all nominations and select the winner based on the exceptional qualities demonstrated by the nominee.
Steven Polmans, TIACA Chair, expressed enthusiasm for the new awards, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the next generation of talent within the industry. “TIACA has identified the NextGen as one of the pillars the industry needs to focus on as part of its sustainability roadmap. We are therefore very excited to launch two new awards that focus on our next generation of leaders, the Rising Star and those that inspire our youth. We cannot wait to see who the first recipients will be.”
TIACA’s initiative to honor these emerging leaders is in line with the association’s broader commitment to fostering talent and driving industry innovation. “We are very excited to launch these two awards which are consistent with TIACA’s mandate to showcase and spotlight excellence within the industry. We know there are plenty of worthy recipients out there, we just need the industry’s help in identifying them,” said Glyn Hughes, TIACA Director General.
Both awards are now open for nominations, with recipients to be honored at the Executive Summit in Hong Kong. The nomination process is an opportunity for industry professionals to recognize those who are making a difference and shaping the future of air cargo.
TIACA is also encouraging young professionals under 35 to consider joining the jury pool for the Inspirational Leadership Award. Those interested can reach out to secretariat@tiaca.org for more information.
As the industry continues to evolve, these new awards provide a platform to highlight the individuals who are not only contributing to the growth of air cargo today but also inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
