dnata, a global leader in air and travel services, has successfully renewed its ground handling license at Zürich Airport (ZRH) for the next seven years. This extension follows a competitive public tender, underscoring the company’s trusted reputation and high standards in providing services at one of Switzerland’s busiest international airports.

Strengthening dnata’s Presence at ZRH

Operating at Zürich Airport, dnata serves a diverse range of airlines, including 40 passenger and cargo carriers, and employs a dedicated team of over 500 professionals. The company manages an impressive daily operation, handling 35 aircraft turnarounds and moving more than 150 tonnes of cargo daily.

This re-awarded license solidifies dnata’s long-standing commitment to providing top-tier ground handling services, ensuring safe and efficient operations at the airport.

Technological and Sustainable Advancements

dnata continues to innovate and streamline operations at Zürich with the introduction of its One Cargo system, a digital cargo management platform. The cloud-based platform helps automate critical tasks like safety and quality monitoring, ULD (unit load device) management, and reporting, resulting in improved efficiency and accuracy.

The company has also prioritized sustainability with the rollout of electric ground support equipment (GSE), increasing its electric vehicle fleet share to 42%. This move supports dnata’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and driving sustainable practices within the aviation sector.

Expanding Cargo Capacity

In addition to securing the ground handling contract, dnata has committed to expanding its cargo handling capabilities at Zürich Airport. The company has signed a lease agreement for a new 9,500m² warehouse facility, scheduled to open in early 2027. This expansion is set to increase dnata’s cargo capacity by 50%, enabling it to meet the growing demand in the region.

A Message of Confidence and Commitment

Willy Ruf, dnata Switzerland’s Managing Director, expressed his pride in the renewed license, stating, “We are proud to have earned the trust of Zürich Airport once again. This renewal highlights our reliability and dedication to service excellence. We will continue to invest in our people, infrastructure, and equipment to deliver best-in-class services to our customers.”

dnata’s Broader Swiss Presence

Beyond Zürich, dnata is also actively involved at Geneva Airport (GVA), where the company’s team assisted over four million passengers and handled 103,000 tonnes of cargo in 2024 alone. With continued investments in technology, sustainability, and infrastructure, dnata is committed to further solidifying its role as a key player in Switzerland’s aviation industry.

As the demand for efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced air services continues to rise, dnata’s renewed license at Zürich Airport marks another important step in its long-term strategy to drive innovation and set new standards for the aviation sector.
