Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) has announced the appointment of Andy Lawrence as President of Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), effective March 23, 2026. The move underscores ATSG’s continued emphasis on strengthening its aircraft leasing arm and enhancing the performance of its global freighter portfolio.
CAM, the leasing division of Air Transport Services Group, plays a central role in the company’s integrated business model by supplying converted freighter aircraft and tailored leasing solutions to customers across international markets. Lawrence’s appointment signals a strategic push toward portfolio optimisation and sustained growth in the air cargo leasing segment.
With more than three decades of experience in global aviation, Lawrence brings deep expertise spanning aircraft and engine finance, leasing, trading, and commercial strategy. He joins CAM from TrueAero, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer. In that role, he led the company’s worldwide commercial strategy across aircraft, engines, and aftermarket materials, helping to scale its leasing platform and expand market reach.
Prior to his tenure at TrueAero, Lawrence held senior leadership positions at Standard Chartered Aviation Finance, including Managing Director and Regional Head of the Americas. During this period, he was instrumental in executing complex leasing and financing transactions while significantly expanding the company’s footprint in the Americas, contributing a substantial share to its global portfolio.
His career also includes key roles at RBS Aviation Capital, AerFin, and GE Aviation, where he gained experience across OEM sales, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, and operational leadership.
Lawrence began his professional journey as an aircraft engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Technology. He is also certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt, reflecting a strong grounding in process optimisation and operational efficiency.
Commenting on the appointment, Greg Mays, President and Chief Executive Officer of ATSG, highlighted the strategic fit of Lawrence’s experience. He noted that Lawrence brings a blend of commercial acumen, financial discipline, and industry insight aligned with CAM’s evolving role within the group. Mays emphasised that the appointment supports ATSG’s priorities of disciplined growth, consistent performance, and long-term value creation.
As part of the leadership transition, Todd France will take on an expanded remit as Chief Commercial Strategy Officer, focusing on advancing ATSG’s enterprise-wide commercial strategy. His role will integrate the company’s leasing, airline, and MRO capabilities to deliver a more cohesive value proposition to customers.
In his new position, Lawrence will oversee CAM’s global leasing activities, with a mandate to strengthen customer relationships, optimise the aircraft portfolio, and identify strategic growth opportunities. His leadership comes at a time when ATSG continues to expand its presence across leasing, airline operations, and MRO services, positioning itself to meet evolving demand in the global air cargo market.
