Former FedEx Logistics President takes the helm as CEVA enters a new phase focused on North American expansion, end-to-end logistics solutions and digital transformation
The CMA CGM Group has appointed Patrick Moebel as Chief Executive Officer of CEVA Logistics, effective 1 July 2026, marking a significant leadership transition as the global logistics provider enters its next phase of strategic growth following the successful integration of Bolloré Logistics.
The appointment, confirmed by CMA CGM Group, brings more than three decades of international transport, freight forwarding and supply chain leadership experience to CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s largest third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
Moebel succeeds Mathieu Friedberg, who led CEVA Logistics through a period of unprecedented transformation over the past six years and now assumes a broader strategic role within the CMA CGM Group as Executive Vice President of Transformation.
Experienced logistics executive takes charge
Patrick Moebel joins CEVA Logistics after serving as President of FedEx Logistics, where he oversaw the company’s global logistics operations and played a key role in strengthening its international supply chain capabilities.
Before joining FedEx, he held the position of President, Americas Region at GEODIS, gaining extensive experience across contract logistics, freight forwarding, transportation management and integrated supply chain solutions.
His appointment reflects CMA CGM’s ambition to further strengthen CEVA Logistics’ position as a leading global logistics provider while enhancing integration across the Group’s maritime, air cargo and inland logistics businesses.
According to CMA CGM, Moebel will lead CEVA’s next phase of development, with a particular focus on expanding the company’s presence in North America, broadening its end-to-end logistics portfolio and accelerating sustainable long-term growth for customers worldwide.
Building on successful transformation
CEVA Logistics has undergone significant expansion since becoming part of the CMA CGM Group in 2019.
The company has strengthened its global footprint through a series of strategic acquisitions, culminating in the successful integration of Bolloré Logistics, one of the largest transactions in the global logistics industry in recent years.
The integration significantly expanded CEVA’s capabilities across freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, project logistics and multimodal transportation while reinforcing its presence across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
With the integration phase largely complete, CMA CGM is now shifting its focus toward operational optimisation, customer-centric innovation and continued international expansion.
Moebel will work closely with CEVA’s existing leadership teams to strengthen strategic collaboration across CMA CGM’s shipping, logistics and air cargo businesses while delivering greater operational synergies throughout the Group.
Commitment to customers and innovation
In a message shared following the commencement of his new role, Patrick Moebel described his appointment as both an honour and a significant responsibility.
He noted that CEVA Logistics’ transformation into a globally scaled logistics provider has attracted widespread industry recognition and expressed his commitment to building on that momentum by driving sustainable growth, technological innovation and operational excellence for customers worldwide.
His vision aligns closely with CMA CGM’s long-term strategy of developing fully integrated end-to-end logistics solutions that combine ocean shipping, air freight, contract logistics, warehousing, customs services and last-mile delivery under a unified global network.
Mathieu Friedberg assumes strategic transformation role
Simultaneously, Mathieu Friedberg has been appointed Executive Vice President of Transformation at CMA CGM Group, effective 1 July.
Following six years as Chief Executive Officer of CEVA Logistics, Friedberg will now oversee several strategic transformation initiatives across the Group, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Information Technology (IT)
- Cybersecurity
- ZEBOX innovation ecosystem
- CMA Conseil
His new responsibilities reflect CMA CGM’s increasing emphasis on digital transformation, innovation and technology as key drivers of future growth across its shipping, logistics and air cargo operations.
Under Friedberg’s leadership, CEVA Logistics significantly expanded its global network, integrated multiple acquisitions and strengthened its position among the world’s leading logistics providers.
Strategic implications for the air cargo industry
The leadership transition comes at a time when logistics providers are investing heavily in digitalisation, integrated supply chain solutions and multimodal transport capabilities to meet growing customer demand.
For the air cargo sector, CEVA Logistics continues to play an increasingly important role through its expanding global freight forwarding operations, dedicated charter services and close integration with CMA CGM AIR CARGO, enabling customers to access comprehensive end-to-end logistics solutions.
Patrick Moebel’s appointment is expected to further strengthen CEVA Logistics’ global growth strategy while reinforcing collaboration across the CMA CGM Group’s maritime, logistics and air cargo businesses as the company continues to expand its international presence.
