Mexican cargo airline Awesome Cargo has appointed Carlos Herrera as its new Managing Director, entrusting him with leading the carrier’s next phase of growth and operational efficiency.
With more than 27 years of experience in the aviation and logistics industry, Herrera brings a wealth of strategic and commercial expertise to the role. His appointment underscores Awesome Cargo’s commitment to expanding its footprint and strengthening its position in the competitive airfreight market.
In a statement shared on LinkedIn, the airline said:

A Veteran of Mexico’s Air Cargo Sector
Prior to joining Awesome Cargo, Herrera served as Chief Commercial Officer at Aerocharter, a Mexico-based air services provider that manages cargo operations for VivaAerobus across domestic and international routes. During his five-year tenure, he played a key role in expanding Aerocharter’s network and optimizing its cargo handling capabilities.
Herrera’s career also includes more than a decade at Mas Air, where he advanced to Commercial Manager, as well as leadership positions with Volaris, Aeromexico Cargo, ECS Group, and Logikoss, a digital booking platform for freight forwarders. His extensive experience across airline, GSA, and technology sectors gives him a broad perspective on the evolving dynamics of the global cargo supply chain.
Expanding Horizons for Awesome Cargo
Based in Mexico, Awesome Cargo specializes in the transport of general cargo, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce shipments, perishables, and live animals, and offers ACMI, CMI, and charter services. The airline operates a growing network of domestic routes along with international services to the Asia Pacific and Latin America, leveraging Mexico’s strategic geographic position as a logistics hub.
With Herrera at the helm, the carrier aims to build on its operational capabilities, enhance service reliability, and strengthen customer partnerships as it scales its global presence.
His appointment marks a strategic move by Awesome Cargo to reinforce its management team at a time when Latin America’s air cargo market is experiencing renewed momentum and expanding connectivity across major trade lanes.
