Fraport has appointed Felix Toepsch as Vice President of Cargo Development, with immediate effect, as the airport operator looks to further develop Frankfurt Airport’s air cargo business and pursue new growth opportunities.
Toepsch will be responsible for advancing cargo development at Frankfurt Airport, bringing extensive experience in business development, digitalisation and process optimisation to the role.
He joined Fraport in 2013 and has held a number of positions focused on business and infrastructure development, innovation and related projects.
Fraport Chief Operating Officer Dietmar Focke said Toepsch brings extensive knowledge of Frankfurt’s air cargo location and a broad network across the cargo community.
“In this important role, Felix Toepsch will be able to draw on his experience in business development, digitisation, and process optimisation to develop FRA further and drive growth opportunities in the cargo business,” Focke said.
Experience Across Frankfurt’s Cargo Community
Before taking up his new position at Fraport, Toepsch served as Chief Executive Officer of Air Cargo Community Frankfurt, where he worked closely with companies and institutions across the airfreight sector.
The community’s current website lists Toepsch among its management team and confirms his role as Chief Executive Officer. The organisation represents a broad cross-section of stakeholders at Frankfurt’s air cargo hub.
During his tenure, Toepsch was involved in initiatives aimed at improving processes and standardisation across the Frankfurt cargo community, including the development of shared solutions for freight operations and truck-slot management.
He also represented the interests of the community in industry discussions and worked to strengthen Frankfurt’s position as a leading European air cargo hub.
In June 2026, the Air Cargo Community reported that its membership had grown to 116 companies, with Toepsch continuing as CEO following its annual general meeting.
Focus On Cargo Growth At Frankfurt
Toepsch’s appointment comes as Fraport continues to implement its long-term strategy for Frankfurt’s cargo business.
The airport operator launched its Frankfurt CargoHub masterplan in 2024, outlining investments in infrastructure, digitalisation and the optimisation of cargo facilities and processes. Fraport said the development programme is intended to strengthen Frankfurt’s position as a major European air cargo hub and support future growth.
The new cargo development leadership role is therefore expected to play an important part in advancing the airport’s cargo strategy, working with airlines, handlers, freight forwarders and other stakeholders across the Frankfurt airfreight community.
Toepsch’s appointment also follows a period of continued development at Frankfurt Airport, where Fraport is investing in infrastructure and cargo-related facilities to meet future demand.
