In a move aimed at deepening international collaboration and expanding global cargo networks, Hong Kong Air Cargo and Turkish Cargo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 22, 2025. The agreement marks a pivotal step in strengthening strategic ties between the two carriers.
The MoU outlines a framework for enhanced cooperation in a range of areas, including codeshare agreements, freighter aircraft collaboration, and expanded route connectivity across key global trade corridors. The goal is to improve operational efficiency and elevate service quality, delivering greater value to customers worldwide.

Tony Ma, Chairman of Hong Kong Air Cargo, commented “This partnership with Turkish Cargo represents a strategic alignment of two dynamic cargo carriers with complementary strengths. By combining our operational expertise and network reach, we aim to deliver more efficient and customer-focused cargo solutions across the globe.”
Ali Türk, Chief Cargo Officer at Turkish Airlines, emphasized the importance of the Asia region in the airline’s long-term cargo strategy: “Hong Kong is a key logistics hub in Asia, and our collaboration with Hong Kong Air Cargo underscores our commitment to expanding our presence in the region. Together, we will explore innovative models of cooperation that unlock new commercial opportunities and elevate service offerings for our customers.”
The agreement sets the foundation for a long-term strategic alliance focused on aligned commercial strategies and joint operational initiatives. Both carriers are committed to ensuring that the partnership evolves in a way that remains competitive and mutually beneficial in the global cargo landscape.
The partnership also reflects a broader industry trend toward collaborative models, as airlines seek to optimize capacity, reduce transit times, and offer integrated logistics solutions amid growing global demand.
Hong Kong Air Cargo has been steadily expanding its global network to capitalise on e-commerce. The latest addition to its network is Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) in Scotland. Turkish Cargo aims to increase its number of cargo destinations to 150 and cargo aircraft to 44 by 2033.
