The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has named Alina Fetisova as its new regional cargo manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), underscoring the organization’s commitment to strengthening air cargo operations across a rapidly evolving market.
Ms. Fetisova joins IATA from her role as trade facilitation manager at the International Trade Centre, where she focused on streamlining international trade processes. She previously served as a consultant for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, gaining extensive experience across Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
“After several years working on trade facilitation and development across Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia, I am happy to step into a role that brings me even closer to the heart of global trade flows – air cargo,” Fetisova said. “Air cargo plays a critical role in enabling international trade, connecting markets, and supporting resilient and efficient supply chains. At a time of rapid change, driven by digitalisation, e-commerce, and evolving regulatory environments, there is a strong need for collaboration across the entire ecosystem.”
Based in Geneva, Fetisova will lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and digital transformation in the EMEA cargo sector. She will collaborate with airlines, freight forwarders, regulators, and other industry stakeholders to advance data-driven operations and improve dialogue between the public and private sectors. Her remit spans Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.
Industry experts note that Fetisova’s appointment comes at a critical juncture, as global air cargo faces shifting trade patterns, growing e-commerce demand, and regulatory changes affecting supply chain efficiency. Her expertise in trade facilitation and regional markets positions her to support IATA’s objectives of promoting seamless, resilient, and sustainable cargo operations across the EMEA region.
