Amazon Air Expands U.S. Network with New Facility at Jacksonville International Airport

Amazon Air is set to establish a new air cargo facility at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), marking the company’s first dedicated air cargo hub in Northeast Florida. The move underscores Amazon’s ongoing investment in its U.S. logistics network and commitment to enhancing regional delivery capabilities.

The company has signed a lease with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) for the facility, known as Air Cargo Building Four, which will serve as a central hub for cargo storage, sorting, and processing. Operations are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026 following planned facility upgrades.

Strategic Location and Facility Details

The new facility spans 50,000 sq ft of warehouse and distribution space on approximately 4.7 acres. Once improvements are completed, Amazon Air will occupy the entire building, enabling the company to expand its capacity for rapid sorting and air cargo processing in the region.

Mark VanLoh, chief executive of the JAA, highlighted the significance of the facility for the local logistics ecosystem. “Amazon is one of the largest employers in Jacksonville, with several of their sort facilities on or near our four airports. This is the next evolution of their growth in Northeast Florida,” he said.

Owen Torres, spokesperson for Amazon, emphasized the strategic importance of the site for the company’s U.S. operations. “Amazon is excited to work with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority to continue fulfilling customer demand in Northeast Florida. Amazon has invested more than $45 billion in the state of Florida since 2010, and this lease represents another commitment to ensuring fast, reliable delivery for customers across the region.”

Expanding U.S. Focus

The Jacksonville facility represents Amazon Air’s first Northeast Florida hub and complements its broader U.S. cargo network. After scaling back European operations in 2023, Amazon Air has increasingly focused on strengthening domestic capacity to support both its own e-commerce business and third-party logistics services, which were formally launched in 2024.

The facility at JAX will play a critical role in improving Amazon’s last-mile delivery performance in the region and enhancing its ability to handle peak seasonal volumes, including e-commerce spikes and time-sensitive shipments.

By integrating additional storage and processing infrastructure in Northeast Florida, Amazon Air continues to fortify its position as a major player in U.S. air cargo, combining operational scale with technological efficiency to meet rising customer expectations.
