CMA CGM Group, CEVA Logistics and Chery Auto have entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop integrated, multimodal automotive logistics solutions that will support Chery’s accelerated international expansion across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.
The agreement, signed at Chery Auto’s headquarters in Wuhu, China, marks a significant step towards establishing a long-term collaboration focused on enhancing supply chain efficiency, resilience, and sustainability within the rapidly evolving global automotive sector.
By combining CMA CGM Group’s extensive capabilities across maritime transport, air cargo, inland logistics, and global supply chain solutions with CEVA Logistics’ specialised end-to-end automotive logistics expertise, the partnership aims to strengthen Chery Auto’s localisation strategy and support the continued growth of its international operations.
Under the MoU, CMA CGM and CEVA Logistics will provide comprehensive logistics support for Chery’s global automotive business, covering finished vehicles, automotive components, and electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The integrated solutions will include domestic distribution, international transportation, and sophisticated multimodal logistics operations designed to optimise supply chain performance across multiple regions.
Driving Efficiency and Resilience Across Global Automotive Logistics
As automotive manufacturers expand into new international markets, managing increasingly complex cross-border supply chains has become a critical factor for long-term competitiveness. The new collaboration seeks to create agile and future-ready logistics ecosystems capable of meeting evolving market requirements.
Amélie Humphreys, General Manager of CMA CGM China, said the partnership reflects the growing importance of strong logistics networks in supporting the transformation of the global automotive industry.
“As global automotive supply chains become increasingly complex, reliable transport and logistics partnerships are more important than ever. By combining CMA CGM’s worldwide maritime and logistics network with CEVA Logistics’ end-to-end automotive expertise, this collaboration will help Chery Auto enhance the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of its international operations.
“We are proud to support Chery Auto’s global growth ambitions and contribute to building more agile, localised and future-ready supply chain solutions,” she said.
Eric Dessupoiu, Vice President of Finished Vehicle Logistics at CEVA Logistics, highlighted the importance of integrated logistics capabilities as Chery expands its global presence.
“Managing multi-market automotive supply chains effectively is becoming a key competitive advantage for vehicle manufacturers expanding internationally. CEVA will leverage its comprehensive automotive logistics capabilities across finished vehicles, parts, and EV batteries to help Chery build a resilient, efficient and sustainable supply chain network for the future,” Dessupoiu said.
Chen Chunqing, Executive Vice President of Chery International, stated that the collaboration would improve regional responsiveness and reinforce the company’s global supply chain strategy.
“By integrating CMA CGM’s worldwide transport and logistics capabilities with CEVA Logistics’ specialised automotive expertise, this strategic partnership will strengthen our ability to respond to local market needs, enhance supply chain performance and develop more resilient international operations.
“Together, we look forward to creating stronger localised and future-ready supply chain ecosystems that support Chery’s continued international growth,” he said.
Supporting the Future of Global Automotive Trade
The agreement highlights the increasing role of integrated multimodal logistics solutions in supporting the global expansion of automotive manufacturers, particularly as electric vehicle production, international trade flows, and localisation strategies continue to evolve.
With CMA CGM’s worldwide transport infrastructure and CEVA Logistics’ deep automotive supply chain expertise, the collaboration is expected to provide Chery Auto with scalable logistics capabilities to support its rapidly growing presence in key international markets.
The strategic alliance also underscores a broader industry shift towards resilient, sustainable and digitally enabled supply chains capable of supporting the next generation of global automotive and mobility solutions.
