- IAG Cargo has released its winter schedule with a new direct service between London Gatwick and Colombo.
- This is due to support Sri Lankan exports including garments, perishables and rubber products, alongside tyres and components for the automotive sector.
- Increased traffic to African and Southeast Asian destinations from London, as well as South American destinations from Madrid are included from this month and next, with a total of 29 destinations across North America from London, Dublin, Madrid and Barcelona.
The 2026/27 schedule strengthens air freight connectivity between the UK, Asia and key global markets, offering customers greater capacity and routing options.
IAG Cargo has announced an expanded winter schedule for 2026/27, introducing a new London Gatwick–Colombo connection and increasing frequencies on services between London and Bangkok and Delhi.
Running from October 2026 through March 2027, the revised schedule is designed to strengthen connectivity across major international trade lanes, giving freight forwarders and shippers additional options for moving goods between Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America.
The new London Gatwick–Colombo service begins on 23 October, with three flights per week. The connection is expected to support Sri Lankan exports, including garments, perishables and rubber products, as well as tyres and automotive components. It will also provide access to onward destinations across IAG Cargo’s wider network.
More capacity to Bangkok and Delhi
Alongside the Colombo launch, IAG Cargo is increasing capacity on two important Asian routes.
Services between London Gatwick and Bangkok are doubling from three to six flights per week, improving options for shipments moving between the UK and Thailand. Meanwhile, London Heathrow–Delhi frequencies have risen from 14 to 21 flights per week, following the introduction of a third daily service in September.
The additional capacity strengthens links between major commercial centres and supports demand for air freight across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, retail and time-sensitive goods.
Transatlantic connectivity remains a priority
The winter schedule also maintains connections to 29 destinations across North America from London, Dublin, Madrid and Barcelona. This broad network provides freight customers with multiple gateways for shipments moving between Europe and North American markets.
IAG Cargo is also adjusting capacity elsewhere across its network, including services to destinations in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Central America. These changes are intended to align available capacity with customer demand and seasonal trading patterns.
Camilo Garcia Cervera, chief sales and marketing officer at IAG Cargo, said the winter schedule focuses on providing customers with the capacity and connectivity required across key global trade lanes. He added that the Colombo launch and additional services to Bangkok and Delhi would strengthen trade links between Asia and international markets.
For freight forwarders, the expanded schedule offers more frequent services on selected routes and additional options for planning shipments during the winter season. The Colombo connection also creates a new direct link between London Gatwick and Sri Lanka, widening access to export markets and IAG Cargo’s broader international network.
