Long serving airport leader to succeed Ian Forgie as PIK enters next phase of cargo and e-commerce growth
Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) has appointed Jules Matteoni Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from 1 July 2026, succeeding Ian Forgie, who is retiring after five years in the role.
Matteoni, who has worked at the airport for more than 33 years and most recently served as Operations Director, has played a central role in developing PIK’s position as a leading UK gateway for international cargo and e-commerce traffic.

“We will continue to strengthen our existing markets while pursuing new opportunities that reflect the airport’s unique commercial advantages and strategic position within the UK supply chain.
“I would also like to thank Ian Forgie for his outstanding leadership over the past five years and wish him a long and happy retirement.”
The appointment follows an extensive recruitment process led by the Board and supported by an external executive search firm.

“He has dedicated more than three decades to the airport and is highly respected across the aviation sector.
“His leadership has been instrumental in the development of our e-commerce business, which has transformed our cargo operations, and he is exceptionally well placed to lead the airport through its next phase of growth.”
Forgie, who became Chief Executive Officer in March 2021, has overseen significant expansion across the airport’s cargo operations, including the processing of more than 33 million e-commerce parcels during the past twelve months, the establishment of regular freighter services linking Scotland and mainland China, and the export of more than 1.5 million kilograms of Scottish salmon between 1 January and 15 May 2026.
Matteoni announced his appointment during Air Cargo China in Shanghai, where PIK is exhibiting and meeting with airline, cargo, and logistics partners to strengthen existing relationships and develop new commercial opportunities.
