Kuehne takes a stake in Lufthansa to over 10% German businessman and Kuehne and Nagel majority owner Klaus-Michael Kuehne has increased his stake in Lufthansa to over 10%, a stock market disclosure today shows.
In a stock market notice, Kuehne reveals that he passed the 10% ownership threshold in Lufthansa on 8 April through the KA Logistik Beteiligungen unit.
It doubles his stake in the German airline group from 5% and makes him the second-largest individual shareholder in the group behind the German state. The latter holds 14.1% through the Economic Stabilisation Fund (WSF), after it stepped in with a rescue package during the pandemic.
Karl Gernandt, executive chairman of Kuehne Holding AG, said: “Kuehne Holding values Lufthansa as one of the world’s leading aviation groups with global aspirations and would like to be a long-term, stable and reliable partner for this company. This is all the more true because the entire logistics industry is facing demanding challenges.
Kühne, the owner of Kühne Holding AG, added: “For my Kühne Holding, the investment in Lufthansa means an excellent rounding off of the previous investment portfolio, in which logistical know-how from various independent investments is bundled. When selecting investments, I attach particular importance to all companies asserting their independence in international competition.”
KA Logistic Beteiligungen is also in the process of changing its name to Kuehne Aviation.
