Liège Airport has reported remarkable cargo growth for the third quarter of 2025, registering a 23 percent year-on-year increase. Between July and September, the airport’s cargo community handled 334,956 tonnes of freight, reaffirming its position as one of Europe’s most vital logistics and air cargo gateways.

Cargo flight movements also rose by nine percent during the same period, signalling strong market demand across key international trade corridors. The consistent uptick reflects robust global e-commerce flows, express logistics activity, and a solid rebound in export markets.

For the first nine months of 2025, Liège Airport recorded 14.4 percent growth, handling 961,640 tonnes of air cargo — cementing its place as Europe’s leading full-freighter airport. The impressive growth highlights the airport’s ability to maintain operational reliability, flexibility, and efficiency in a highly dynamic logistics environment.

According to the France Aviation Civile Services global air traffic survey, Liège ranks among the world’s five fastest-growing cargo airports, with volumes surging by 29 percent between 2019 and 2024. This performance underscores the airport’s expanding global significance and resilience amid evolving supply chain challenges.

Liège remains the only European airport dedicated entirely to freighter operations, offering tailored infrastructure for high-value and time-critical shipments. The airport specialises in handling perishables, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, e-commerce parcels, humanitarian cargo, and live animals, supported by robust multimodal links connecting major European trade routes.

In a strategic move to support long-term growth, Liège Airport announced a €500 million investment in its flagship CargoLand expansion project, slated for completion by 2040. The development aims to enhance warehousing capacity, sustainability features, and digital infrastructure — enabling the airport to meet future cargo demand with greater efficiency and environmental responsibility.

With its continued upward trajectory, Liège Airport is redefining air cargo connectivity in Europe — blending innovation, sustainability, and reliability to serve the needs of global trade.
