Industry executive joins Menzies Aviation from SATS with more than two decades of experience across commercial, operational and business development roles
Menzies Aviation has appointed Emma Deane as Senior Vice President Commercial for its Oceania and Southeast Asia (OSEA) region, strengthening the company’s regional commercial leadership as it pursues further growth across Asia-Pacific.
Deane brings more than 20 years of aviation industry experience spanning commercial leadership, business development, key account management, contracting, corporate governance and operations, according to the company’s announcement.
She joins Menzies from SATS, where she held a business development role. Prior to joining SATS, Deane held senior leadership positions at dnata, working across its ground handling, catering and VIP services businesses.
Her earlier career at dnata included responsibility for commercial and business development activities. Industry records show she was appointed Vice President Commercial & Business Development at dnata in 2015, supporting the growth of its UAE ground handling and Marhaba operations.
Regional commercial focus
In her new role, Deane will lead Menzies Aviation’s commercial strategy across OSEA, with responsibility for strengthening customer relationships and identifying opportunities to expand the company’s service offering and market presence.
The appointment comes as Menzies continues to build its operations across the region, with the company positioning commercial development and customer partnerships as key elements of its growth strategy.
Darren Masters, Executive Vice President OSEA at Menzies Aviation, said Deane’s experience across aviation services would support the company’s next phase of regional development.
“Emma is a highly respected commercial leader with deep experience across aviation services and a strong track record of driving growth and building lasting customer partnerships,” Masters said.
He added that her expertise would help Menzies deepen customer relationships and support continued growth across Oceania and Southeast Asia.
Experience across aviation services
Deane’s career spans several areas of the aviation services industry, giving her experience across both commercial and operational functions.
Her background includes business development, contract management, customer relationships and governance, as well as exposure to ground handling, catering and VIP services.
That combination of commercial and operational experience is increasingly relevant to aviation services companies as airlines and airports seek integrated ground-service solutions and longer-term strategic partnerships.
Menzies operates across a broad range of aviation services, including ground handling, cargo, fuelling and executive services. The company says it operates at more than 350 locations globally.
OSEA growth agenda
Menzies has continued to expand its presence across Oceania and Southeast Asia, making the region an important part of its wider growth strategy.
Deane said she was looking forward to working with Menzies colleagues across the region to support customers and strengthen partnerships.
“Menzies Aviation has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner and I’m excited to join the business,” Deane said.
Her appointment adds senior commercial expertise at a time when aviation service providers are competing for contracts across a region characterised by expanding passenger and cargo markets, airport investment and increasing demand for integrated ground services.
For Menzies, the focus will now be on converting that regional market opportunity into new contracts, deeper customer relationships and further expansion of its service portfolio.
