New RFS solution enhances supply chain flexibility, supports larger cargo movements, and reinforces Oman’s role as a strategic logistics gateway in the Middle East
Oman Air Cargo has expanded its regional logistics capabilities with the launch of a new daily Road Feeder Service (RFS) connecting Muscat, Oman, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The new service is designed to strengthen cross-border cargo connectivity, provide customers with greater transport flexibility, and support the increasing movement of goods between two of the Gulf region’s key trade and logistics centres.
Operating on a daily basis, the road feeder connection complements traditional air freight services by creating an efficient land-based transport corridor for cargo moving between Oman and the UAE. The service enables Oman Air Cargo to accommodate a wider range of shipments, including larger and widebody-compatible freight that may not be suitable for transportation on narrowbody aircraft.
The introduction of the RFS reflects the changing dynamics of regional supply chains, where integrated air and road logistics solutions are becoming increasingly important to maintain reliability, improve transit options, and ensure seamless cargo movement across borders.
Commenting on the launch, Michael Duggan, Head of Cargo at Oman Air, said the new service represents an important enhancement to the airline’s customer offering.
“This new service creates greater flexibility for cargo movement between Dubai and Muscat by complementing traditional air freight operations and enabling the transport of a wider range of cargo types,” said Duggan.
“As regional supply chains continue to evolve, Oman Air Cargo remains focused on delivering reliable, customer-centric transport solutions that support trade across the Middle East.”
The new Road Feeder Service will handle a diverse range of commodities, including perishables, general cargo, and oversized shipments that require alternative transportation solutions beyond the limitations of narrowbody aircraft. The added capability is expected to support exporters, importers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers seeking dependable connectivity between the two markets.
The launch comes at a time when the Middle East continues to strengthen its position as a global logistics crossroads, connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. By integrating road feeder operations with its wider air cargo network, Oman Air Cargo aims to provide more resilient and flexible supply chain solutions capable of responding to changing market requirements.
The new Dubai–Muscat RFS also reinforces Oman’s broader ambitions to develop itself as a leading regional logistics hub. Leveraging its strategic geographic location and growing transportation infrastructure, Oman continues to enhance its role in facilitating efficient cargo flows across the Gulf and wider Middle Eastern markets.
For Oman Air Cargo, the service represents another step in expanding its multimodal logistics portfolio, combining air freight expertise with reliable road transportation solutions to deliver seamless end-to-end cargo services for customers.
As global supply chains increasingly demand agility, visibility, and alternative routing options, integrated solutions such as road feeder services are expected to play a crucial role in maintaining trade continuity and improving regional cargo efficiency.
