Menzies Aviation will provide cargo, ramp and passenger handling for Singapore Airlines’ daily services and ad hoc freighter operations at Western Sydney International Airport from 23 November 2026. The appointment strengthens Menzies’ position at the new 24-hour airport, where it has developed a major cargo facility with an annual handling capacity of up to 200,000 tonnes.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has appointed Menzies Aviation to provide cargo, ramp and passenger handling services at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, marking a significant addition to the ground handler’s operations at Australia’s newest international airport.
Menzies will support SIA’s daily passenger flights as well as ad hoc freighter operations from the airline’s launch of services at the airport on 23 November 2026. The Singapore–Western Sydney route will be operated daily using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, subject to regulatory approvals, according to Singapore Airlines.
The contract builds on Menzies’ investment in the airport’s cargo precinct. The company has established a 12,500-square-metre cargo facility with the capacity to handle up to 200,000 tonnes of freight annually. Menzies describes it as its largest cargo warehouse across Oceania and Southeast Asia.
The facility has been designed to accommodate a broad mix of freight, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, e-commerce shipments and heavy cargo. Its location within the airport’s dedicated cargo precinct is intended to support the movement of freight between airside operations and the wider road transport network.
The operation will also use MACH, Menzies Aviation’s cargo management platform. The system is designed to improve shipment visibility, operational efficiency and access to real-time cargo tracking information.
The appointment extends an established relationship between the two companies. Menzies already handles Singapore Airlines’ freighter ramp operations in Sydney and Melbourne, and was also awarded the carrier’s ground handling contracts in Brisbane and Cairns earlier in 2026.
Darren Masters, Executive Vice President for Oceania, Southeast Asia and China at Menzies Aviation, said the appointment represents the company’s first airline customer at Western Sydney International. He said the new cargo facility and integrated handling services would support airline growth and help position the airport as an important aviation and freight gateway for Australia.
Foo Chai Woo, Singapore Airlines’ Regional Vice President for the South West Pacific, said the airline was working closely with Menzies ahead of the launch to ensure passenger, ramp and cargo handling services meet its operational standards.
For Western Sydney International, the agreement adds another major international airline customer to its developing aviation and logistics ecosystem. The airport’s 24-hour operating model is expected to provide airlines and cargo operators with greater scheduling flexibility, while Menzies’ warehouse capacity creates scope to accommodate a wide range of freight as operations expand.
