Dachser has appointed David Wystrach as its new Global Head of Air Freight, marking a key leadership transition as the company sharpens its focus on air cargo strategy and network optimisation.
Wystrach announced his new role in a public statement, confirming his mandate to lead and further develop Dachser’s global air freight product. His responsibilities include overseeing network design, managing airline partnerships, and driving operational performance across international trade lanes. A central component of his role will be aligning Dachser’s air freight capabilities with broader, integrated supply chain solutions—an area of increasing importance as customers demand greater end-to-end visibility and efficiency.
He effectively succeeds Timo Stroh, who led the company’s global airfreight operations for nearly ten years before stepping down in February of the previous year. The position had since been managed on an interim basis, making Wystrach’s appointment a significant step toward long-term strategic continuity in the division.
Wystrach brings extensive experience across procurement, trade lane management, operations, and profit-and-loss responsibility. His background in carrier relationship management and traffic flow optimisation is particularly relevant in today’s air cargo environment, where capacity constraints and rate volatility continue to shape market dynamics.
Prior to joining Dachser, he served as Global Head of Airfreight at Scan Global Logistics, where he was responsible for leading and scaling the company’s global air freight operations over a five-year period. Earlier in his career, Wystrach held the role of Senior Director Air Freight EMEA at Flexport, managing regional air cargo activities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
He also spent more than a decade at Panalpina, where, as Air Freight Procurement Manager, he developed deep expertise in sourcing capacity and building strategic airline partnerships—capabilities that remain critical as operators navigate fluctuating demand and constrained lift availability.
In his initial comments, Wystrach highlighted the importance of re-engaging with industry stakeholders, signalling a collaborative approach to strengthening Dachser’s global air freight network. His appointment comes at a time when logistics providers are actively recalibrating their air cargo strategies in response to shifting demand patterns, evolving capacity dynamics, and increasing pressure to deliver transparency across supply chains.
The leadership change underscores Dachser’s intent to reinforce its position in the competitive air freight market while adapting to a rapidly changing global logistics landscape.
