Cargojet is expanding its scheduled Canada-Europe network with a new mid-week freighter service to Liège, Belgium, adding capacity to meet growing demand for connections between Canada and European markets.
The Canadian cargo carrier will launch the additional Wednesday service on 23 September 2026, complementing its existing weekend operation to Liège. The new flight will be operated with a Boeing 767 freighter on the Hamilton–Halifax–Liège–Hamilton routing.
Cargojet said the additional frequency will provide greater capacity and flexibility for customers, while extending connections between its Canadian domestic network and international markets.
Growing Demand for Europe
The new service follows Cargojet’s entry into scheduled Canada-Europe operations in November 2025, when the carrier introduced a weekly direct service linking Liège Airport with major Canadian cargo hubs.
At launch, Cargojet said the operation would provide time-sensitive capacity between Canada and Europe while integrating the European service with its established domestic overnight network.
The decision to add a second weekly frequency reflects demand from customers in Central and Western Europe, according to the carrier.
“Growing demand from customers across Central and Western Europe for our weekend Liège service created an opportunity to add mid-week capacity,” said Pauline Dhillon, chief executive of Cargojet.
Dhillon said the additional frequency would provide customers with a more connected solution between Canada, Europe and other international markets.
One Network Strategy
Cargojet is positioning the new service as part of its broader One Network strategy, which integrates its domestic overnight, ACMI and international charter operations.
The strategy is intended to enable freight moving through Cargojet’s Canadian network to connect more efficiently with its growing international operation.
“This expansion demonstrates the power of our One Network strategy—connecting our domestic overnight network with our international operations to deliver greater reach, flexibility and value for our customers,” Dhillon said.
Liège provides Cargojet with a European cargo gateway through which shipments can connect with markets across the continent.
The carrier’s international expansion complements its core North American network, which remains focused on time-sensitive premium air cargo services. Cargojet says it carries more than 25 million pounds of cargo each week and operates its network with its own freighter fleet.
Boeing 767 Freighter Operation
The new Wednesday service will use a Boeing 767 freighter, flying westbound from Liège through Halifax to Hamilton.
Cargojet operates an all-Boeing freighter fleet comprising Boeing 757-200ER, 767-200ER and 767-300ER aircraft. Its current fleet information lists the company as operating more than 40 freighters, while its latest corporate announcement puts the fleet at 41 aircraft.
The 767 provides additional capacity for international operations while remaining compatible with Cargojet’s wider network strategy.
European Network Expansion
The additional Liège frequency represents another step in Cargojet’s development of scheduled international operations.
Before launching the scheduled Liège service in 2025, Cargojet primarily served European markets through charter operations. The move to scheduled services has allowed the carrier to build a more consistent connection between its Canadian network and Europe.
The new mid-week operation also comes as Cargojet continues to expand its international footprint while maintaining its domestic overnight network and ACMI activities.
With the additional Wednesday flight, customers will have greater flexibility in moving time-sensitive freight between Canada and Europe, while Cargojet can use its existing network infrastructure to connect international traffic with destinations across Canada.
