A new chapter in sustainable transportation has begun as Duvenbeck Group officially launches series operations with the MAN eTGX Ultra Low Liner electric truck. One of the first logistics providers to integrate this advanced electric vehicle into regular operations, Duvenbeck is now using the fully electric truck for transporting materials between its Herne logistics hub and the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg.
A Milestone for Green Logistics
The 317-kilometer round trip is now served by an eTGX electric truck, marking a significant step in Volkswagen Group Logistics’ shift toward more sustainable transport solutions. The vehicle is charged via public charging stations along the route and a dedicated charging point at Duvenbeck’s Herne facility, where parts from various suppliers are consolidated before delivery.
“The first BEV Lowliners with a three-meter loading height are now proving their cost-effectiveness and reliability over medium distances,” said Simon Motter, Head of Volkswagen Group Logistics.
Scaling Up Electric Truck Operations
Duvenbeck has committed to expanding its fleet of MAN eTGX Ultra Low Liner trucks. By the end of this month, the company expects to have 15 electric trucks in service, with plans to scale up to 120 in collaboration with MAN, as outlined in a letter of intent between the two companies.
“Sustainability and efficiency are at the core of our logistics strategy,” said Hakan Bicil, CEO of Duvenbeck. “The MAN eTGX is a key part of our transition to greener transport, and every trip we complete helps us refine and improve sustainable logistics solutions.”
Volkswagen’s ‘goTOzero Impact Logistics’ Strategy
The initiative is aligned with Volkswagen’s ‘goTOzero impact logistics’ program, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions across its supply chain. Electric trucks play a pivotal role in this transformation, helping Volkswagen achieve its long-term sustainability goals.
Meanwhile, infrastructure improvements are also underway. Duvenbeck’s Peine site will soon have its own charging facilities, making electric truck operations even more efficient.
With Duvenbeck and MAN leading the way, the shift towards a more sustainable future in logistics is accelerating, one electric mile at a time.
