Veteran Logistics Executive and WCAworld Leader Brings More Than Two Decades of Freight Forwarding Experience to Independent Logistics Network
Lognet Global, the independent freight forwarder network powered by WCAworld, has appointed Cecilia Markez as its new Managing Director. Announced during the recent Lognet Global Conference in Panama City, the appointment places a seasoned logistics professional with more than 20 years of industry experience at the helm of one of the world’s leading independent freight forwarding networks. The move reflects Lognet Global’s continued commitment to strengthening global partnerships, expanding member value and supporting the growth of independent logistics companies worldwide.
Lognet Global has named Cecilia Markez as its new Managing Director, entrusting the experienced freight forwarding and logistics executive with leading the network’s next phase of international development and member engagement.
The appointment was formally announced during the Lognet Global Conference in Panama City, where freight forwarding professionals and network members from around the world gathered to discuss industry developments, business opportunities and future growth strategies.
Markez assumes leadership of the network at a time when independent freight forwarders are increasingly seeking collaborative platforms that provide global reach, financial security and strategic partnerships to compete effectively in an evolving logistics landscape.
Extensive International Logistics Experience
With more than two decades of experience in freight forwarding and logistics, Markez brings a deep understanding of global supply chains, network management and member-focused business development.
Originally from Argentina, she began her career working for a freight forwarding company in her home country, gaining first-hand operational experience in international transportation and logistics management. Her professional journey later took her to New Zealand, where she continued to build expertise across various aspects of the freight forwarding industry.
Her global perspective was further strengthened when she joined WCAworld and relocated to Bangkok, Thailand, where she spent two years at the organisation’s headquarters.
During her tenure in Bangkok, Markez assumed responsibility for leading WCAworld’s claims and financial protection programme, a role she continued to oversee for more than 12 years. The position provided her with extensive experience in risk management, dispute resolution, member support services and network administration—areas that are critical to maintaining trust and operational confidence within global freight forwarding communities.
Industry observers note that her unique blend of operational, financial and network management expertise positions her well to lead Lognet Global in an increasingly competitive and interconnected logistics environment.
Strong Leadership Within WCAworld
In addition to her new responsibilities, Markez currently serves as Vice President for Latin America at WCAworld, where she is based in Miami and oversees member relations and network development throughout the Latin American region.
In that capacity, she works closely with freight forwarding companies across the region, helping members identify growth opportunities, strengthen international partnerships and leverage the extensive resources available through WCAworld’s global network.
Her long-standing involvement with independent freight forwarders has provided valuable insight into the challenges facing logistics companies, including market volatility, digital transformation, supply chain disruption and the need for stronger international collaboration.
These experiences are expected to play a key role as Lognet Global continues to expand its global footprint and enhance value for its members.
Commitment to Member Success
Commenting on her appointment, Markez emphasised the importance of relationships, trust and practical support within global logistics networks.
“I am honored to take on the role of Managing Director of Lognet Global and continue working alongside such a dynamic and professional membership base,” she said.
“Having worked within WCAworld for many years and closely with members across Latin America, I understand the importance of strong relationships, trust and practical support within a network environment. I look forward to helping Lognet Global continue to grow and deliver value to members around the world.”
Her comments reflect the growing importance of network-based collaboration in the freight forwarding industry, where independent companies increasingly rely on trusted international partners to expand service offerings and compete with larger multinational logistics providers.
WCAworld Leadership Endorses Appointment
WCAworld Chairman David Yokeum welcomed the appointment, highlighting Markez’s extensive industry expertise and commitment to supporting independent freight forwarders.
“Cecilia’s experience, industry knowledge and dedication to member success make her an excellent choice to lead Lognet Global,” said Yokeum.
“She understands the challenges and opportunities facing independent freight forwarders today and brings a strong global perspective to the role.”
Industry stakeholders view the appointment as a strategic decision that reinforces Lognet Global’s commitment to strengthening its position within the independent forwarding community while continuing to invest in member-centric initiatives.
Supporting the Future of Independent Freight Forwarding
The logistics industry has undergone significant transformation in recent years as companies navigate evolving customer expectations, technological innovation, geopolitical uncertainty and changing global trade patterns.
Against this backdrop, independent freight forwarder networks have become increasingly important, providing members with access to international business opportunities, operational support, financial protection programmes and collaborative partnerships.
Lognet Global’s decision to appoint a leader with extensive experience across multiple regions and disciplines reflects the network’s focus on helping members adapt to changing market conditions while expanding their international reach.
The appointment also underscores the growing importance of leadership that combines operational knowledge with strategic vision and relationship-building capabilities.
Backed by the Strength of WCAworld
As part of the broader WCAworld ecosystem, Lognet Global benefits from the resources and global connectivity of one of the logistics industry’s most influential independent forwarding organisations.
Founded in 1998 by David Yokeum, WCAworld pioneered the concept of a non-exclusive global freight forwarding network and has since grown into the largest independent logistics network in the world.
Today, the organisation represents more than 12,000 member offices across 196 countries, creating a global platform that facilitates collaboration, business development and operational support for independent freight forwarders.
One of the network’s distinguishing features remains its comprehensive financial protection programme, which provides members with an added layer of security when conducting business with fellow network participants.
Positioned for Continued Growth
As global supply chains become increasingly complex and interconnected, the role of collaborative logistics networks continues to expand.
With Cecilia Markez now leading Lognet Global, the organisation is expected to strengthen its focus on member engagement, international cooperation and business growth opportunities across key global markets.
Her appointment signals continuity in the network’s commitment to supporting independent freight forwarders while also bringing fresh leadership and strategic direction to navigate the evolving logistics landscape.
For Lognet Global and its worldwide membership, the leadership transition marks the beginning of a new chapter focused on growth, innovation and deeper global collaboration within the freight forwarding community.
