The 2026 EU Cross-Border E-Commerce Forum concluded in Liège after three days of discussions focused on the changing requirements of cross-border e-commerce, air cargo and logistics.

Held from September 8–10 at the Palais des Congrès de Liège, the event brought together more than 850 attendees from across the e-commerce, air freight and logistics sectors. Official event figures show participation from more than 300 companies, including over 100 freight forwarders and 60 cargo airlines.

Industry focuses on changing e-commerce landscape
The three-day programme brought together representatives from e-commerce platforms, airlines, freight forwarders, logistics companies and public authorities to examine how the industry is adapting to changes in regulation, technology and consumer demand.

Liege Airport and AWEX jointly hosted the event, which has become a platform for discussions around the intersection of e-commerce and air cargo. Liege Airport had previously described the forum as an opportunity for international cargo professionals and e-commerce stakeholders to examine the future of cross-border logistics.

The 2026 edition also placed a stronger emphasis on business networking. The organisers introduced exhibition space for company stands and a dedicated press area, alongside meetings and conference sessions.

Frédéric Brun, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Liege Airport, said the event had developed considerably since its launch in 2019 and that the latest edition reflected the pace of change in e-commerce.

He said the larger venue allowed greater emphasis on business-to-business meetings and networking, while the exhibition area provided companies with an additional opportunity to present their activities.

Liège strengthens its e-commerce role
The forum comes as Liège continues to position itself as a major European gateway for e-commerce and air freight.

Liege Airport describes itself as Europe’s fifth-largest cargo airport and has been developing a dedicated full-cargo strategy. Its location and cargo infrastructure have made the airport an important hub for international e-commerce flows.

The airport has also highlighted the changing regulatory environment as a major issue for the sector, particularly as European authorities introduce new measures affecting low-value e-commerce imports.

The EU CBEC Forum provided a platform for industry participants to assess those developments and consider their implications for carriers, logistics providers, customs authorities, marketplaces and shippers.

Networking remains central to event
Alongside the conference programme, organisers arranged networking activities, including an evening reception and a cruise on the Meuse.

The event concluded with a gala dinner hosted at the Liege Airport terminal, providing an informal setting for participants to continue discussions from the conference.

Liege Airport said the 2026 edition brought together major names from the e-commerce, air cargo and logistics sectors and generated strong participation across the three-day programme.

With the 2026 forum now concluded, attention turns to the next major industry gathering planned in Liège. The organisers have announced ACE 2027, which will be held in partnership with Neutral Air Partner.
