Norse Atlantic Airways has extended its unit load device (ULD) management agreement with Jettainer GmbH ahead of its original term, reaffirming a strategic partnership focused on operational flexibility and digital oversight across long-haul cargo operations.
Under the renewed agreement, Jettainer will continue to manage and supply the airline’s ULD fleet, including containers and pallets, supporting Norse Atlantic’s intercontinental network. The partnership is structured around a tailored fleet model designed to respond dynamically to fluctuations in demand, a key requirement for airlines operating in highly seasonal long-haul markets.
Central to the collaboration is Jettainer’s digital platform, JettwareNG, which provides end-to-end visibility of ULD assets. The system enables real-time tracking, station-level inventory monitoring, and detailed analytics, including movement histories and performance indicators. This level of transparency is intended to ensure optimal asset utilisation, minimise shortages, and maintain consistent service reliability across the network.
Launched in 2022, Norse Atlantic Airways operates a fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft, connecting Europe with destinations in North America, Africa, and Asia. The airline’s business model emphasises adaptive capacity management, adjusting frequencies and capacity in response to seasonal travel and cargo demand patterns. In this context, efficient and flexible ULD management is a critical operational component.
According to company statements, the partnership has delivered stable operational performance since its inception, supported by close coordination between the two organisations and data-driven fleet management processes.
Jettainer, a global provider of ULD management solutions, oversees a fleet of more than 100,000 ULDs across approximately 500 locations worldwide. The company combines physical asset management with advanced digital tools, leveraging data analytics and automation to optimise container and pallet positioning, maintenance, and repair cycles.
The company’s service portfolio extends beyond standard ULD management to include leasing solutions, temperature-controlled logistics support, and specialised handling for sensitive cargo. Its global network of partners and repair facilities enables proximity to airline operations, supporting rapid response and operational continuity.
Jettainer operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo AG, further strengthening its integration within the global air cargo ecosystem.
The early renewal of the agreement reflects a broader industry trend toward long-term, technology-driven partnerships aimed at improving efficiency, resilience, and cost control in air cargo logistics. As airlines continue to navigate fluctuating demand and operational complexity, digital ULD management solutions are expected to play an increasingly central role in maintaining network reliability.
