Yusen Logistics has entered into a strategic partnership with digital air cargo platform cargo.one to modernise and strengthen its global air freight pricing, procurement, and booking operations through AI-powered technology solutions.
The collaboration marks a significant step in Yusen Logistics’ ongoing digital transformation strategy, as the company rolls out cargo.one’s AI-native operating system across its worldwide air freight network to improve operational efficiency, pricing accuracy, and global connectivity.
Under the agreement, Yusen Logistics will deploy cargo.one’s platform across core procurement and sales functions, including air freight rate procurement, rate management, quotation generation, booking processes, and inter-branch transactions.
The move comes as global air cargo procurement becomes increasingly complex due to fluctuating rates, shifting capacity conditions, evolving customer expectations, and growing pressure for faster response times across international supply chains.
Industry experts say digitalisation and artificial intelligence are rapidly becoming critical competitive tools for freight forwarders and logistics providers seeking to improve speed, transparency, and decision-making in global cargo operations.
Through the new partnership, Yusen Logistics will use cargo.one’s AI-powered system to centralise and standardise air freight capacity management across regions. The platform enables procurement and sales teams to compare live market rates, contract pricing, consolidation rates, trucking charges, and local costs within a single unified environment.
The integrated approach is expected to support faster and more accurate customer quotations, sharper procurement strategies, and more data-driven operational decisions across Yusen Logistics’ international network.
The partnership also includes the development of a managed global cargo network tailored specifically to Yusen Logistics’ operational requirements. More than 100 Yusen Logistics branches worldwide are now connected through the platform, providing real-time access to rates and service options across the company’s global network.
The enhanced visibility is designed to improve regional coordination, pricing consistency, and customer response times while strengthening connectivity between international offices.
According to the companies, the infrastructure has been jointly developed to maximise service flexibility and create a more efficient quoting experience for customers across multiple markets.
Integration with Yusen Logistics’ existing Transport Management System (TMS) is also planned as part of the next phase of development, further streamlining workflows and improving operational automation.
Eisuke Fukagawa, Head of Air Freight Forwarding Unit at Yusen Logistics Global Management Co. Ltd., said the deployment represents a key milestone in the company’s long-term procurement and digitalisation strategy.
“Implementing cargo.one’s AI-powered operating system represents an important step in Yusen Logistics’ journey towards pricing digitalisation and broader procurement modernisation. cargo.one’s technology and innovative approach strengthen how we manage air freight capacity globally, and directly support our long-term strategic objective,” Fukagawa said.
Moritz Claussen, Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of cargo.one, said the partnership demonstrates how AI-driven systems can transform procurement and sales operations across global logistics networks.
“It is an honour to collaborate with Yusen Logistics globally to maintain the most advantageous procurement and sales infrastructure for its global operations with our AI-native operating system. With the best market data and technology driving its workflows, Yusen Logistics will now multiply the value of its resources and capabilities at scale,” Claussen said.
The partnership is also expected to provide Yusen Logistics with a centralised and reliable source of pricing and rate data, which the company views as a critical foundation for future AI-driven capabilities such as automated quoting, booking, customer support, and sales optimisation.
As digital transformation accelerates across the logistics sector, the collaboration highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence, automation, and integrated data systems in shaping the future of global air cargo operations.
The companies stated that they will continue working closely to enhance customer value, strengthen procurement efficiency, and support the evolving needs of international freight markets through advanced technology and digital innovation.
