Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) posted steady growth in its cargo operations in 2025, handling 520,985 metric tonnes of freight, a 5% increase over the previous year. The airport also achieved a record single-day throughput of 2,207 metric tonnes on 7 August 2025, highlighting its role as a major logistics hub for southern India.
The year saw BLR Airport expand and streamline its cargo network, benefiting from rising demand across sectors and continued infrastructure enhancements. The airport is now linked to 37 cargo destinations via 15 domestic and international cargo airlines, enabling stronger trade flows with key global markets. Leading export destinations included Chicago, Singapore, London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Leipzig, while top import markets were Shenzhen, Shanghai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Cargo growth was largely driven by shipments of agri-perishables, pharmaceuticals, auto parts and spares, electric and electronic goods, and e-commerce consignments, reflecting both domestic and international demand patterns.
Infrastructure developments played a pivotal role in supporting growth. The Domestic Cargo Terminal, developed by Menzies Aviation Bengaluru Private Limited and inaugurated in December 2024, became fully operational in 2025, establishing itself as India’s largest greenfield domestic cargo terminal in terms of both physical size and handling capacity. Additionally, in April 2025, BLR Airport launched the AISATS BLR Logistics Park, a Grade A warehouse facility spread over 8.2 acres with a built-up area of 370,000 square feet, designed to support high-volume, time-sensitive cargo operations.
Airport officials confirmed that BLR will continue to focus on expanding cargo connectivity, strengthening airline partnerships, and scaling up infrastructure to support sustained trade and logistics growth. With these initiatives, Kempegowda International Airport aims to reinforce its position as a strategic hub for international freight, linking India to major global markets efficiently and reliably.
