Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has partnered with CargoAi to expand digital access to its global air freight capacity, giving more than 30,000 freight forwarders access to real-time rates and eBooking through CargoAi’s digital platform.
Announced on 17 September 2026, the partnership forms part of Ethiopian Cargo’s broader digital transformation strategy and is designed to improve the visibility and accessibility of its capacity and pricing for freight forwarders worldwide. Through the integration, Ethiopian Cargo’s rates and capacity will be available through the CargoAi marketplace as well as through direct connections with leading transport management systems (TMS).
The arrangement is intended to give forwarders greater access to Ethiopian Cargo across multiple digital booking environments while increasing automation in the rate and booking process. The airline will also use CargoAi’s digital interline capabilities, supporting electronic interline bookings and shared capacity management with airline partners.
The partnership adds another digital sales channel to Ethiopian Cargo’s network. Earlier this year, the carrier announced its integration with Freightos’ WebCargo platform, providing digital rates, quoting, eBooking, payments and interlining capabilities. Ethiopian Cargo also has an established relationship with cargo.one, which it joined in 2023 as part of its digital sales strategy.
For CargoAi, the agreement expands its connectivity with a major African cargo operator. The company says its platform connects airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling agents and airports, while its technology supports digital rate distribution, booking and other air cargo workflows.
“Digitalization is a key pillar of Ethiopian Cargo’s long-term strategy,” said Dereje Derero, Managing Director of Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services. He said the partnership would bring Ethiopian Cargo’s services closer to freight forwarders worldwide through a more streamlined digital booking experience.
CargoAi CEO Matthieu Petot said the partnership would provide forwarders with real-time access to Ethiopian Cargo’s capacity and pricing while extending the carrier’s digital reach.
The development comes as Ethiopian Cargo continues to expand its digital distribution strategy alongside its extensive international network. The carrier currently operates dedicated freighter services and belly-hold capacity across its passenger network, while its interline programme includes agreements with more than 97 airlines.
The CargoAi integration therefore adds another route for freight forwarders to access Ethiopian Cargo’s capacity, reflecting the wider shift towards real-time pricing, electronic booking and digitally connected air freight distribution.
