Third edition of global technology forum to convene more than 500 aviation leaders, data experts and cybersecurity professionals in India
New Delhi: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that the third edition of its World Data Symposium (WDS) 2027 will be held in New Delhi, India, on 7–8 April 2027, bringing together global aviation leaders, technology innovators and cybersecurity specialists to shape the future of digital transformation across the air transport industry.
Building on the success of the 2026 edition in Singapore, the symposium is expected to attract more than 500 delegates from across the global aviation ecosystem, providing a collaborative platform for airlines, airports, cargo operators, technology companies, regulators and cybersecurity professionals to explore emerging technologies, strengthen digital resilience and address evolving data challenges. The event details have been confirmed by IATA through its official announcement.
Held under the theme “CTRL + ALT + SKY. Proven by data. Protected by security. Powered by technology,” WDS 2027 will focus on how data, advanced technologies and cybersecurity are reshaping aviation operations, customer experience and supply chain efficiency.
Strategic importance for aviation and air cargo
As airlines and logistics providers accelerate digital transformation, data has become a critical strategic asset across passenger and cargo operations. Artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, cloud computing, automation and cybersecurity are increasingly central to improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer services and strengthening supply chain resilience.
For the air cargo industry, where real-time shipment visibility, digital documentation, electronic air waybills (e-AWB), predictive logistics and secure information exchange are becoming industry standards, the symposium is expected to provide valuable insights into the technologies shaping the next generation of global cargo operations.
The choice of New Delhi as host city also reflects India’s growing significance in the global aviation landscape. As one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets and an emerging logistics hub, India is rapidly expanding its airport infrastructure, digital capabilities and cargo handling capacity, making it a fitting venue for discussions on the future of aviation technology.
Two specialised conference tracks
According to IATA, the 2027 symposium will feature two dedicated conference streams designed to address the industry’s most pressing technological priorities:
- Data & Technology, focusing on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, automation, data governance, analytics and emerging aviation technologies.
- Cybersecurity, examining evolving cyber threats, risk management, regulatory compliance, digital resilience and strategies to safeguard increasingly connected aviation systems.
The dual-track programme is intended to provide participants with practical knowledge as well as strategic perspectives on how technology is transforming aviation worldwide.
Practical learning and industry collaboration
Beyond keynote presentations, WDS 2027 will offer an interactive agenda featuring:
- Hands-on workshops
- Practical implementation sessions
- Expert panel discussions
- Industry case studies
- Collaborative networking opportunities
The programme has been designed to provide delegates with actionable insights that can be directly applied within their own organisations while encouraging greater collaboration across the aviation ecosystem.
The symposium will also provide opportunities for technology providers and solution developers to showcase innovations that address operational efficiency, cybersecurity, passenger experience and cargo digitisation.
Opportunities for exhibitors and technology partners
IATA has also opened early discussions for sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, inviting technology companies, digital solution providers and aviation service organisations to secure prominent visibility during the event.
With participation expected from senior airline executives, chief information officers, data specialists, cybersecurity professionals and aviation technology leaders, the exhibition will offer companies a valuable platform to demonstrate next-generation digital solutions and build strategic partnerships.
Early commitments are expected to provide exhibitors with premium locations and enhanced branding opportunities throughout the symposium.
Registration opens in September
Following the successful conclusion of WDS 2026 in Singapore, IATA has encouraged industry stakeholders to reserve 7–8 April 2027 in their calendars, with delegate registration scheduled to open in September 2026.
The association has also released an initial event roadmap outlining the conference themes and programme structure, while a highlights video from the Singapore edition provides participants with a preview of what to expect in New Delhi.
As aviation continues to embrace digital transformation, artificial intelligence and increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity frameworks, the World Data Symposium has rapidly established itself as one of the industry’s leading forums for technology leadership. The 2027 edition is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping discussions around secure, data-driven aviation ecosystems that will support the future growth of passenger travel, cargo logistics and global air transport.
