TRIWO Hahn Airport recorded significant increases in both passenger and cargo handling in the first quarter of 2025. Over 440,000 passengers and approximately 22,000 tons of cargo were handled. Managing Director Rüdiger Franke expressed satisfaction with the development and expected continued positive figures for the year.
TRIWO Hahn Airport has reported impressive growth in both passenger and cargo numbers during the first quarter of 2025. The airport welcomed over 440,000 passengers in the first three months of the year, marking a remarkable 30 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Cargo operations also saw a boost, with Hahn handling approximately 22,000 tons of air freight, an eight percent year-over-year increase.
“The year 2025 has started off strong,” said Rüdiger Franke, Managing Director at TRIWO Hahn Airport. “In terms of passenger traffic, airlines have expanded their offerings at Hahn, including the summer schedule that began on March 30. We are confident that we will reach 2.2 million passengers by the end of the year.”

Franke also addressed the positive trend in the cargo sector, noting that Hahn’s 24-hour operating permit continues to make it an attractive hub. However, he acknowledged that the ongoing geopolitical uncertainties could pose challenges for the sector in the months ahead.
To accommodate further passenger growth, the airport is undertaking significant upgrades, including the redesign and modernization of its terminal. “We are centralizing the security check to streamline processes and enhance the overall passenger experience,” Franke added.
Additionally, Hahn Airport is advancing its digitalization efforts, introducing self-drop-off terminals to reduce check-in and waiting times for passengers, further improving operational efficiency.
