Hong Kong Air Cargo has expanded its fleet with an Airbus A330-200P2F freighter, boosting regional capacity and service reliability as part of its long-term growth strategy.- The sixth aircraft marks the airline’s first fleet addition since its 2017 launch, supporting plans to optimise its network and expand globally.
Hong Kong Air Cargo has taken another step in its long-term growth strategy with the addition of a sixth freighter to its fleet, welcoming an Airbus A330-200P2F that will strengthen regional capacity and enhance service reliability across its network.
The newly inducted aircraft represents the carrier’s first fleet expansion since its launch in 2017 and marks a significant milestone as the airline moves beyond its long-standing five-aircraft operation. Designed to offer flexible and right-sized capacity, the A330-200P2F is well-suited to the diverse cargo profiles typical of regional markets, ranging from express and e-commerce shipments to general cargo and specialised freight.

With its combination of payload capability, range and operational efficiency, the converted widebody freighter will support Hong Kong Air Cargo’s efforts to optimise its network while maintaining high service standards. The aircraft is expected to improve connectivity across key regional trade lanes, providing customers with greater schedule resilience and capacity options.
Chairman Tony Ma said the fleet addition reflects the airline’s focus on supporting customers while laying the foundation for future expansion. “The addition of the sixth aircraft enhances our ability to better support our customers with greater flexibility and reliability, as we continue delivering reliable cargo solutions across our network,” he said. “As we add capacity, we will continue to optimise our network, building on strong frequencies while expanding our freighter footprint across continents.”
The A330-200P2F’s arrival signals Hong Kong Air Cargo’s intent to pursue measured growth, balancing capacity expansion with network optimisation. While the immediate focus remains on strengthening regional operations, the airline said it will continue to evaluate opportunities for expansion into new markets, including the potential development of long-haul services as demand evolves.
As global supply chains continue to adapt to shifting trade patterns, Hong Kong Air Cargo’s investment in modern, versatile freighter capacity underscores its ambition to play a larger role in regional and international air cargo markets, while reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a key global logistics hub.
